Map Spotlight: Death Watch Bunker
Modder AQT recently released a real gem – version 2.0 of Endor: Death Watch Bunker. The map is loosely based on the Death Watch Bunker from the game Star Wars Galaxies and, as its name implies, features the Death Watch, a splinter group of the Mandalorians.

This map pits the Death Watch against the Empire. The Death Watch side is composed of several varieties of warriors in Mandalorian armor, along with re-fitted Battle Droids from the Clone Wars era. The Empire has the standard assortment of Stormtroopers and Scout Troopers, but also has some new units, such as commandos in Katarn armor (as seen in Star Wars Galaxies). Every unit has something to give it a fresh new feeling – whether it’s simply the improved model for the Stormtroopers, or the “cool” factor of plowing through a corridor as a Phase III Dark Trooper.
The map features four modes: Conquest, Campaign, Hunt, and Team Deathmatch. Each mode is well-constructed and brings something fun to the table, but Campaign is definitely the highlight. It hearkens back to the classic Star Wars first-person shooters from the 1990s, mainly Shadows of the Empire and Dark Forces. Players step into the boots of Captain Archer, an Imperial Storm Commando. The mission calls for Archer to root out the Death Watch from a secret bunker on Endor. Along the way, players will encounter a variety of enemies and a few puzzles. The climax of the mission is an intense boss battle with the leader of the Death Watch. The mission isn’t over, though – AQT dropped in one more nice surprise at the end. You’ll have to download the map to find out what it is!

I played it. It was very enjoyable. I got stuck once, but that was it. I was just being dumb.
Being one of the members who helped create this (the dialogue, the inspiration, etc), I enjoyed every moment helping AQT. And the result was worth it. With AQT and Gametoast I’ve learned many possibilities with modding and I have to say that I am both proud and honored to be a member of Gametoast pretty much since the very beginning of the BF2 modding craze and I shall continue to support Gametoast to the end and beyond the grave.
This was a fantastic review of an awesome mod. AQT really did do an incredible job.
Shoot, it totally slipped my mind to mention your contributions to the project, RSL. Sorry!
No, no, no, it’s cool, Eggman!
Also, I am working on a project that may or may not be related to this project here and TEV. So just a bit of a heads up there.
yeah. It was truly remarkable. I wish we would see another campaign project or something. I beat the Dark Times 2 one like 6 times. What about a campaign about renegade squadron?
