How to load missing shipped sounds in a side mod?

I'm really new to SWBF2 modding, and I have seen tutorials on how to add missing shipped sounds to custom maps, but I'm trying to make a side mod ONLY without any new map additions. However, I'm trying to use sounds from different maps and eras and so the sounds don't play correctly on some maps while working fine for others. I have not found a method for fixing this after searching high and low.

As an example, if I wanted to change, say, the Clone Heavy Trooper's rocket launcher firing sound to that of an IFT-X's beam cannon, that sound would play on maps that use that vehicle but not on ones that don't. Is there a way to fix this, and if so could someone please walk me though that process? Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to make a conventional side mod or an era mod??
