You probably have the British English version. It has a second localization, another thing pandemic did that I don't understand

Off-topic: There are some differences between it and American English, such as diction and spelling.THEWULFMAN wrote:You probably have the British English version. It has a second localization, another thing pandemic did that I don't understand

Re: Earth: Pioneer Trails v0.9d [UPDATE: 5/7/11]
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:
First off, expect the map to be released within the upcoming week! Also, there are a few things you should know about this map:
-The water will appear transparent if your water settings are set to "low". Setting your water settings to "medium" or "high" will fix this. This is and always has been the same for any stock map.
-This map's water fountain has effects that are not able to be seen unless you are very close to it or if your weapon is zoomed in. I am working on fixing this.
-Foliage will not appear to be "commonly seen" unless your view distance settings are set to over ~50.
-Locals have been removed due to a balancing issue.
Things left to do:
-Fix the Death Watch's command post icon.
-Fix the sounds for electric ordnance/explosions.
-Possibly add (more) vehicles to the Extended Civil War era.
BETA TESTERS:
Alright guys, this is the final run. We enter the building from the roof and then we will storm into and secure...wait, wrong game. Anyways, this is the final run, guys!
-What do you like about the map so far?
-Are there any aspects you dislike or think need to be fixed/adjusted?
-How well does this map run on your computer, and at which settings?
-What are your thoughts on the map?
OPINIONS:
Give me your guys' opinions on the map!
-Is there anything more you guys would like to see in this map?
-Does Pioneer Trails seem "complete" to you?
-How excited are you all about the near-release?

If by "transparent" do you mean "invisible"? Because I launched up stock Kashyyyk with low/off settings on everything and got this:Marth8880 wrote:-The water will appear transparent if your water settings are set to "low". By transparent he means Not Reflective, and you can see into the water.

Kashyyyk's is a little easier to see because it's a different texture (I use Naboo) and the the sand texture makes the water more distinct.Fiodis wrote:If by "transparent" do you mean "invisible"? Yeah, when I played his map at first I didn't notice the water 'till I was standing in it and was like "wut-the-!? " . Then I turned on the water settings and was all "ohhh... haha "
Anyways I'm excited for the release of the map.

Why does everybody always have their water settings on low?CalvaryCptMike wrote:Yeah, when I played his map at first I didn't notice the water 'till I was standing in it and was like "wut-the-!? " . Then I turned on the water settings and was all "ohhh... haha "

Re: Earth: Pioneer Trails v0.9d [UPDATE: 5/7/11]
Lowering the resolution and not having everything else set too high helps. Are you guys sure anti-aliasing is off? A setting of 2x is enough to cut the frame rate in half or at least dock it by 7 frames.THEWULFMAN wrote:Because a lot of us cant play with higher water settings without lag

I can play it on mine with medium without any noticeable lag.Marth8880 wrote:Lowering the resolution and not having everything else set too high helps. Are you guys sure anti-aliasing is off? A lot of my feedback is purly visual. I will not mention HUD icons and the like..
I just wrote down what I thought while playing.
Why does every unit have a shield
I like the CP Capture bla bla bla messages. Nice touch.
I just saw a clone commit suicide via drowning in the lake
Why is the fountain spraying blue water? Water is greyish white when in jet form like that.
Why is the AAT yellow? It would look better stock or with a camo paint job, I released a camo skin for it a couple weeks ago.
Skins are good. They really are, but, why do all the regular troopers look like Gree?
The Republic is getting owned by the droids.
The ARC caster is way too weak
The Commander model really should be changed, This isnt a cold map, why is he in cold gear. Dont make the same mistake pandemic did.
The Clone Commander's eweb is a little underpowered.
I just lost as the republic. Remaining CIS reinforcements? 105. I had 28 kills and 3 deaths. I was mainly taking command posts and exploring though. I will replay them after a rundown of the CIS.
2 minutes in the CIS ha all but 2 republic cps... so far the match has gone pretty much the same.
The republic never stands a chance. I really dont like mods with such a balance favoring the CIS.
The environment looks good save one thing, Is the park you mentioned the map is based off of in California, in the Redwood forests? If not, scale the trees down a bit with a .option It will make the map more unique. Rather than just endor with style.
The CIS AAT is really bright too, again, refer to above.
The fightertank skin is a bit weird too :s
The Localization for the blasters is a little odd, why mention what ammo type it is if there is no second ammo type to switch to?
I will play more later. If I had to rate it right now (which I hate doing) I would say 7/10
Keep up the good work but try to address some of these comments if you please.
Also, GCW should be fixed so it doesnt CTD or remove it from the era select screen.
Many things I stated are just opinion. Feel free to ignore me like most people do.

Re: Earth: Pioneer Trails v0.9d [UPDATE: 5/7/11]
Only the Republic units, AAT, IFT-X, STAP and BARC speeder have shields, and because it adds a little more variety.THEWULFMAN wrote:Why does every unit have a shield?
Thanks! I don't understand why most maps do not possess this feature; it's really convenient!THEWULFMAN wrote:I like the CP Capture bla bla bla messages. Nice touch.
Yeah, they are stupid. They manage their way in there even with barriers blocking both soldier and hover units.THEWULFMAN wrote:I just saw a clone commit suicide via drowning in the lake.
General_Nate made it for me. I will, however, adjust the color.THEWULFMAN wrote:Why is the fountain spraying blue water? Water is greyish white when in jet form like that.
Yellow? It's green!THEWULFMAN wrote:Why is the AAT yellow? It would look better stock or with a camo paint job, I released a camo skin for it a couple weeks ago.
So THAT'S who that is! And because it fits the map and he looks awesome!THEWULFMAN wrote:Skins are good. They really are, but, why do all the regular troopers look like Gree?
This has been addressed and fixed and will be released in v0.9e, which I will send out pretty soon today.THEWULFMAN wrote:The Republic is getting owned by the droids.
Repeat previous comment.THEWULFMAN wrote:The ARC caster is way too weak
Where could I then find the model for the Commander from the conversion pack? I remember looking for actually the entire asset pack once but I couldn't find it. I'll take another peek, but if you already know where they are then would you mind directing me to them?THEWULFMAN wrote:The Commander model really should be changed, This isnt a cold map, why is he in cold gear. I don't use it often so I wouldn't have realized this. I'll up the power.THEWULFMAN wrote:The Clone Commander's eweb is a little underpowered.
A very large portion of the stuff I have been doing lately is balancing the two teams and I think I've got it almost perfect now. You'll see when I send out the next beta soon.THEWULFMAN wrote:I just lost as the republic. Remaining CIS reinforcements? 105. I had 28 kills and 3 deaths. I don't think it would be very safe to scale the trees because 1) scaling messes up an object's barriers and I don't want to have to deal with that, and 2) the trees are pretty tall in the real park and I think Endor's are close enough in size.THEWULFMAN wrote:The environment looks good save one thing, Is the park you mentioned the map is based off of in California, in the Redwood forests? Bright?THEWULFMAN wrote:The CIS AAT is really bright too, again, refer to above.
Yeah, I've been meaning to change it back to stock for a little while now.THEWULFMAN wrote:The fightertank skin is a bit weird too :s
I'll add more ammo powers if I can perfect them, but I will only ship them with future updated versions.THEWULFMAN wrote:The Localization for the blasters is a little odd, why mention what ammo type it is if there is no second ammo type to switch to?
Done and done.THEWULFMAN wrote:Keep up the good work but try to address some of these comments if you please.
I don't understand the crashing. What's wrong? Do you think you could try running it with the debugger and post the error log? It never usually crashes for me. By the way, it's actually the Extended Civil War and has been addressed as such in the beta I'll be sending out.THEWULFMAN wrote:Also, GCW should be fixed so it doesnt CTD or remove it from the era select screen.
I always make sure to address every problem I know about and receive from people.THEWULFMAN wrote:Many things I stated are just opinion. Feel free to ignore me like most people do.

Re: Earth: Pioneer Trails v1.1a [NEW STUFF DAWGS]
Oh hey look, it's a bunch of future changes/additions. I plan on:
- fixing the balance issue in the CW era,
- completely getting rid of the whole Clone shields, added health, ammo types, etc. crap in the CW era,
- updating the version of the XCW era to be up-to-date with AQT's new version in the new Death Watch Bunker,
- adding the original Galactic Civil War era,
- implementing the Mass Effect Mod,
- adding random weather,
- creating an optional patch that removes the map's water,
- further enhancing the map's visuals, e.g., creating HD (or at least more higher res) skins for the trees, etc., and
- making the size of the map and sides more efficient.
