Did you ask for permission to use the map?

Re: 0827ant1's 66th Legion Mod
I have messaged him...if he says no I will take it off Its just work in progress so im showing it but It might not be released on the final thing.-_- wrote:Did you ask for permission to use the map?
EDIT: It seems that he has been inactive since 2009
EDIT: Since the maker was unactive like forever...I doubt he'll mind espcecially the map didn't get the interest he was looking for and since really the only thing is when they download it, it will come with his mod so he will get even more "fame" so I'm helping him alot like even if they don't like mine they might like his so it's a win, win for him so I'll keep it

Re: 0827ant1's 66th Legion Mod
Interesting, I have been working on a skin's mod myself though it is no where near finished as of yet. Also in the future its really best that you get permission first to ship a map with this simple skins mod. Just because some one isn't active doesn't mean people can use that stuff, despite your good intentions. That's like me getting Dev's side mod and either though he isn't active, re-releasing something that is already out. Im sure he doesn't mind getting extra recognition but their are other ways to do so for example like making a video about it or posting a gameplay of it. (And leaving a link to the original mod). Not shipping it with your skins so that it looks more attractive. Im sure your skins will get the download without adding someone else's work to it. By doing this, the only way you would be able to release this is by youtube. Release the skins as is will enable you to post them on modb and filefront which is a far better offer.

Yes I am doing gameplay of the map and I will give him full credit toward him. In the gameplay I will give him the link....so you read my mind Im not shipping it to out to look more attractive because many don't even think the map looks that cool, I wana get the map more popular as well and it goes with my side mod....its like a bonus towards everyone, me, him, and the guys who download it! But I will take your advice for the futureTWINKEYRUNAWAY wrote:Interesting, I have been working on a skin's mod myself though it is no where near finished as of yet. Also in the future its really best that you get permission first to ship a map with this simple skins mod. Re: 0827ant1's 66th Legion Mod
From my experience here (which is admittedly limited) you'd be better off to just leave the map out and focus on the side mod itself. You'll avoid any sort of reprimand, because the mod consist entirely of your own work.
And to be perfectly honest, the map isn't all that good*, try creating some of your own maps, even if they aren't that great it still adds that extra something to your mod.
*This is no way intended as an insult, just an observation of quality. My map making skills aren't that great, I recognize and admit that, but it doesn't stop me from telling a good map from a bad map, and a great map from a good map.

Dreadnot is spot on, it'd be better left alone, and creating your own map, while it is more work, is overall a better experience, you can create and customize your own map and make something you're proud of!

Not only that but it is a great learning experience and like I did, you might get hooked on it and continue making maps or mods. Good luck

Re: 0827ant1's 66th Legion Mod
Yeah, no offense to cycloneassasin, but you would be way better off not including the map, and I'm confident that given a little practice you could make a much better map
Also, maybe try making custom weapons/classes, as simply changing the skin isn't all that much at least in my opinion, as awesome as they look.

The skin looks a bit odd/painty to me, although it might be the lighting in the screenshot. Did you remember to use Colorize or something similar instead of just painting the same color?

Re: 0827ant1's 66th Legion Mod
Heres a sneak peak on the 1.0 version of my clones. Im working on the rest of the clones now and next to the clone Nedarb7's CW Darth Maul....I got that Maul by just copy and pasting his pick in the maul assest thingy...so whatever you guys do that takes 100 steps is crazy.

Re: 0827ant1's 66th Legion Mod
I painted the guns:
Anyway, heres the plan, I'm gona have to change some stuff. The final release will still consist of 4 or 5 files. The "Alternative Version" is now my main version I plan to continue to work om. The other two "Beta and the painty ones" will be there as extras just incase anyone liked them. I will also include the Savage and mabey the CW Maul, but I gt see if the maker approves of it. So heres what you an expect in the next release and the 2.0 version...
1.0 Version:
-2 Republic Sides that work purely on 501st Stock Skins
-1 Old Crappy Skin that everyone hates
-A Savage Opress that is in the beta Stage
-Possibly TCW Darth Maul
2.0 Version (All What Ifs):
-1 Republic Side that works on all modes and maps
-A Improved Savage Opress
-1 CIS Custom side that comes with Savage
-All The Stuff Listed in the 1.0 Version
