Battle of Umbara [Final Update]

Battle of Umbara


Hey Gametoasters,
this is the first topic to show the developement of my upcoming map: The Battle of Umbara.
This map is a Space to Ground Map.
This map is completly based on the 4 The Clone Wars episodes I have seen a few months ago. As you probably know I already have done an Umbara map )based on the tv series) but the main problems were:

-It was too dark
-No special models, units and heroes
-a few vehicle bugs
...

But now I did a completly "create-over" on this map. There are a lot of selfmodeled buidlings, trees and streets, new stuff and so on. There are also new heroes and units I made at the first time.
All the units will be reskinned, get new weapon effects and they all have new unit models. I hope you like the project I am working for 2 months. I don't know when I'll release that map but most probably in 2 weeks. There is actually not so much to do.
Here's a small list of things I still have to do for this map (and a bit more):

-Fix the weight bug on a unit model
-Add hangar shields to my droid supply ship
-A few unit spawn weight fixes
-New vehicles
-Umbarian Unit model+weapons
-Probably adding a turret defense tower
-Testing, Testing, and...yes...testing

-Adding Sounds and custom Music
-Changing the addme.lua
-More lua stuff here and there...
-Fixing more bugs if they still are there..
-Adding a loadscreen
 And a few things more but I also made a small list of important things etc.


If you have any suggestions, tips or questions about the map please let me know and I will try to bring them into the game.

I think it looks really nice. And I love when someone uses light odfs like the ones in the second picture.

Suggestions of mine would be:
-Add some rocks to the landscape.
-Add some foliage.
-Change the color greenish rail in the felucia light pillars. I think blue, like in the light, or some red, could look cool.

I look forward to see how this map progresses. Judging by these first screenshots, it has a lot of potential.

It's amazing !

And I'm actually interested by Pong Krell (I find his neck a little too high)...

Did you will released the assets of the maps and characters models sometime ?

I will certainly download this when it will be complete.

There are a few rocks near the street ( is only one main street from the Republics place to the airbase. I also will try to add more foliages. I just had a problem, because to much will crash the game.
For the lights. Thanks for the suggestion. I will play around with the colors.

Indytof@: well. I have planned to release all the stuff I made (e.g. the supply ship, umbara trees, street parts, the airbase and also all my characters if anyone is interested).

I think you're on the right track with the lighting, but it could do with being a little more subtle, color-wise (and just looking at reference pictures of the episodes, Umbara was a little more purple/violet than it is blue). You could also do well drawing in the NearSceneRange a little and giving the map a more dense, foggy look.

When you had the crash had you added foliage by placing individual objects or by using the foliage painting in ZeroEditor?

For adding larger areas of foliages I actually use the foliage tool.

One tip from me: For the texture of that four-lane roadway(?) in the third screenshot, try putting -maps 1 in its tga.option file. That way it won't look so blurred from the player's perspective at a slight distance.

I can't animate in xsi but I mixed different dash attacks and other lightsaber hits for all my characters.

Marth8880@: I will try that with the tga.option but for now I am not on my PC so new changes can be seen on tomorrow. But thank you for the tip.

Another masterpiece being worked on by our favorite and one of the best modders for Star Wars Battlefront 2 TheLegend! I remember watching Star Wars The Clone Wars when I was like 12 or 13 and I still watch them a lot because of how cool it is! Keep up the work on the map man, hope to see it released soon!

Awesome! I really hope that you release some combos with unmunged animations. There is a big lack of them in the community.

And I know I've asked for this time and again, but I think your maps would REALLY benefit if you made them assault mode (point-based). It not really as hard to do as you would think. Just use some of the XL scripts as a reference and jack up the point limit.

I had the same thought. I think it were a good addon to the big battle. Krell vs Clones will be added.
Ah and all the heroes are only playable by the players and can be earned.

And yes there will be Umbarian military/units. They will be playable for the cis.

OK. I'm steel interessted by Pong Krell. He will need a little reskin for the non-usable hands, have the same thing as the clone trooper have on their hands.
