Endor Walker Assault WIP

Hello everybody. I'm attempting to make a map similar to EA's walker assault. For this I'll be heavyly modifying Hoth. Only made the ground textures, sky and the mountains so far. They work together nicely though, here's a pic:

I didn't encounter many problems yet, only that I can't disable the fog! looked around in the .fx file, .sky file and many others but couldn't disable that fog you see in the mountain to the right. Can anyone tell me how? I don't think the trees and other props will look good with that greyish fog. EDIT: FOUND the fog thingy, thank you Gogie for the help,.

Honestly, I'd try placing some props around first, before you judge the fog. See how it looks.

I did! the trees look grey from the distance, it's very unrealistic because the fog is not in the ambient, it just turns props and terrain greyish. I need to disable it or lower it, where could that config be?
You see? it doesn't make sense to me at all:

Okay. Now I understand wanting to remove the fog. That looks absolutely horrible!


I don't know where the config would be, I'm not that good at modding, hah. You might wanna ask one of the veteran modders around here.

That's some top notch texture work right there. Nice work!

May I ask, how long will the mod take to release? I assume the map is more than just a retexture of Hoth? Will places like Echo Base be kept?

I'm a beginner, so I first learnt how to retexture a map, now I'm learning how to turn default maps in something else, and finally make maps from scratch.

In this case, yes, it's not a retexture, cause I've done that in the past. This will be a Hoth layout based map, Echo base will remain there but you'll hardly recognise it I promise :)

Daaaaamn what magic or witchcraft did you use to make the terrain so HD? I love the little details like the downed AT-AT in the background. It looks great with all the HD stuff! Very interested as to how this will turn out!

Thanks, if you liked that, you guys are going to love this :

It's a muddy walker idea. The concept is: walkers have been through a lot and this map time period is during the last moments of the battle in endor.

(just today I learned how to skin a vehicle, yahoo!) Rebel's snowspeeder will look something like this too. As if the rebels took all they could when they left hoth, and used all their resources left when they made a camp in Endor before the last battle against the empire.

overall I'd say progress on the project is coming rather fast; and the textures and terrain blend very nicely together, this should go good with the HD mod youve been working on, hopefully by the end you can use it like a "showcase" map for both projects

can't wait to see what else you can bring for the future :) im kind of curious to see what you end up doing with the tree's leaves but im sure they'll look great as always

This map is looking pretty good so far! I think it's a pretty neat idea to transform Hoth into an Endor map.

Pretty cool so far. I might suggest replacing the Shield Generator with a destructible GR-75 transport.

This is a nice idea. Maybe 2 or 3 transports, just for flavor.

I like this concept. You are modifying a stock map to 'create' a new one. This reminds me of Tatooine: Tusken Camp.

Anyway, I'm liking the view of your mod. The muddy AT-AT is a nice concept though.

Judging by the pictures, in my opinion, you should add more trees. Also, are you using the Endor skydom, so that the Death Star II can be seen?

At the moment your map looks fresh. Nice concept, one of the few Endor Maps. Good texture working. Great job?

And another question... Will be there customized sides?

Looks pretty nice so far, I just wish that background could be a playable map since I love HD type maps! I hope after the map itself it finished you work on custom sides, would show how much you really are committed to your map!

I'm new at modding guys, I'd love to create custom units but it takes a lot of time for me to read the tutorials and do every step (mistakes included), maybe I'll retexture some more units but I can't promise I'll do a whole custom side :cry:
What I can do is contact creators of side mods and ask them to make my map compatible with their mods.

Edit; btw thanks for all the feedback, the concept for the map is interesting and has a lot of possibilities, I'll do my best attemp to make the best map I can. Atm I'm stuck because ZE won't open. Looking into it.... wasting time, hehe. That's life.
