So besides Battles of the Storm 2.0 and a whole separate realllllly cool map I'm making, I've decided to start and (hopefully)finish a new project. If you couldn't already tell its ...

Naboo: Assault on Theed
... from Battlefront 2 ... the new one

But why pause my other two ambitious projects and pick up this one ? With battlefront 2 not to far away I want to use this project to hopefully make my voice heard by DICE and EA.
As you've seen from battles of the storm, battlefront 2's capability of handling large scale combat is AMAZING, making battles of the storm was so much fun and seeing your reactions on youtube
to the size and scale of the battle is awesome. What makes battles of the storm good is that you are placed in a 100+ vs 100+ battle and you really get a sense of all out WAR.
All out war is what I do best

After watching the alpha footage of battlefront 2 EA, I was impressed. Of course EA did well with graphics and sound design again but ... The only problem that I saw with assault on Theed is
that it didn't seem big enough ... it wasn't a war. When I think of the clone wars I think of the thousands of clones battling on Geonosis, or the scene on Kashyyyk with the clones holding the beach with so many
laser and missiles (right before the clones try to kill yoda) To me, my only real issue with Battlefront 2 EA is that Theed seemed ... empty. which is why I plan on recreating it and then adding in 100+ clones holding off and invasion of 100+ droids, I mean isn't that what an ASSULT should look like ?

Now yes I know the game isn't even out and that was only an alpha , and yes chances are that this game will come with an "XL" or "battlefield 1 operations" type mode, but my message to DICE an EA is loud and clear Lets see some large scale over the top Clone WARS action !!

In week until the first alpha, everyone who posted here will get an alpha a few days before it is released to the public. I will post when I am sending the alphas out to these people and

EPISODE 1 STORY MODE (concept):

I was thinking of maybe even campaign mode or something to that extent in the future.
The player would get the choice to play as Quarsh Panaka ,Young Padme ,Young anikin ,Qui-gon Gin, Jar Jar , Or Obiwan kenobi
Each with their own unique story - because you would play from their perspective.

All 6 characters would start in the forest on the ground level away from Theed. Jar Jar would leave to engage in the war vs the droids in the naboo fields and the other 5 would have to enter the naboo palace from the secret waterfall passages as Padme says in ep1. After sneaking around Theed for a bit (without getting caught) They all would cause a distraction then enter the palace to escort anikin and some Naboo pilots to their ship. If you are playing as Anikin here, you would have to go into space to complete the rest of your mission taking down the control ship from the inside. If you are playing as Obi or Qui-gon - you would battle darthmaul. If you are Quarsh Panaka or Young Padme you would take the remaining naboo soldiers to go after the viceroy.

Some careful scripting would make sure no one falls out of character or go where they are not supposed to be. Die and the mission is failed. let an essential Allie die and the mission is also failed. let to many naboo soilders or gungans die - mission failed. Fall out of line (killing jar jar right away, suicide, killing the viceroy, getting caught while sneeking around theed in the beginning, going where your not supposed to be) And the game will also result in a mission failed.

On top of playing as the 6 main characters you would also have the option of playing as one of the three normal soldiers groups (naboo guards, naboo pilots, or gungans) in an "attrition" type battle within this campaign mode - seeing the battle of naboo from their perspectives. As one of theses three groups respawns would be possible because you are playing as the whole group (much like the campaign from normal battlefront 2).

And on top of all that goodness - a campaign co-op mode where You and up to 6 friends can take control of the 6 main characters and play through each of their rolls.

I'm super glad that I've kinda found time to do some modding in between the YouTube channel but because of the channel things are moving kinda slow.
I will release a early alpha for you guys to play soon and update the pictures above regularly.
What do you guys think about the map so far and what are your thoughts on Battlfront 2 EA, what are some of your ideas for this map going forward ?

I don't know how you did the texture on the hill (the rocks), waw waw waw ! :bowdown:

Are you going to do the interior on the palace and/or the Theed hangar ? If yes, then this map is gonna be my favorite one =)

Maybe you can add the Battles of the Storm sides to this map, no ? That would be great I think :yes:

yeah that's the other thing to, I was debating on weather or not to do building interiors mainly because other than re-texturing and playing around with the assets from the stock Coruscant, I don't know what else I would use for a palace. So I think for now just stick to the outside and If I have time then Ill at least include some form of interiors.
As for the sides I wanted to completely over haul them to make them match that of battlefront 2 EA. Give them better textures, faster weapons with no ammo, give them that cool over the shoulder camera. My goal isn't to make this 100% exactly like battlefront 2 EA but I want to get close.

For the weather, maybe use the 'weather changer' scripts to add rain storm and sun, or simply a blue sky with a big sun, to do like the EA Naboo Sky. Also for the interrior well for the hall I don't know if there's a hall that can fit in the palace from the stock assets, but for the corridors a reskin of the kamino corridors can be perfect and for the 'great room' (well I don't remember how it's called but it's the room that the CIS forces have to capture at the phase 3 of the Battlefront 2 alpha) you can use the council chamber and reskin it, that could be great !

Yep, the EA Battlefront 2 sides have to be in the mod and with your talent I'm sure that's gonna be great, but I mean you can create the new sides and use the Battles of the Storm sides that would be amazing ! But after all it's your mod, so you decide :wink:

This definitely looks very promising, I just hope this becomes a really popular mod since you seem to be putting a lot of hard work and determination into this certain mod of yours. Can not wait for the next update Lorul1, been a fan of your work since the beginning!

Looks great! If you ever did ground to space, the attack on the Droid Control Ship would be cool. I've always felt like a strange omission in the huge roster of BF2 mods is the lack of a mod of the Droid Control Ship, interior or N1s attacking the exterior (or both).

@MikeTheBeast : Thanks man, it makes me happy to know that people enjoy my work. Hopfyully I can put a lot of fun and detail into this project before battlefront 2 EA comes out, which is the problem. (I'm on a time limit) But the even better news is that soon after battlefront 2 comes out I will be realeasing EVERYTHING I used to make this assault on theed map , that way anyone can add their own twist !!


Xezene: oh yeah defiantly. I actually was doing some brainstorming and had LOTS of ideas for lots of cool things I could do with this map. I was thinking of ground to space with the control ship from ep1 - and taking it down could even be its own game mode or something. I was thinking about adding a complete interior for the naboo garage so you would even get to go where the darth maul battle took place. I was thinking about adding the feild from naboo where the gungans faught the droids in ep1 (because this map is 512x512 which is huge for a battlefront map) I was even thinking about how this map can have a mode where all three battles go on at the same time (fight for theed, taking down the control ship and the gungan battle) and because they would all be on the same map you could pick any battle to join. I was thinking about adding a true campaign mode which the clones wouldn't even be in because ... there were no clones in ep 1. Yeah ... all this stuff probably won't happen as I need to release this mode before EA battlefront but those are some of the good ideas I was thinking about, ground to space however would 100% be first tho.

I like the ideas so far guys keep them coming, questions, ideas, suggestions ??

Also the first gametoast exclusive alpha will be coming out soon so keep an eye out I'm not 100% sure how I will be going about posting it - weather or not it will be here on on my YouTube so keep an eye out on on this topic. Playing on this map with over 64 units is already so much fun - and with the improved health and movement speeds as well as the weapon redesigns I've done It makes the mechanics to the game feel totally different, it feel like a fast paste multiplayer INVASION. This map defiantly is meant for 64 v 64. It should be ready in 2 + weeks.

Prop layout is looking good, but the lighting needs to be worked on. (as in there appears to currently be no lighting whatsoever :n )

Lighting as well as proper sun , sky , and , mountains have now been added.
This level will be retextured eventual to match EA's battlefront 2 as well although I don't think I'll have time to do all that before I release the first alpha lol.

UPDATE : ok so this is my update on alpha gameplay.

It will be basic conquest between the Republic and CIS, if one side takes all the other sides command post that side wins.
At the same time as this conquest battle a CIS MTT will be en-route to the Naboo Palace.
There are Ion Disruptor Turrets placed all over the map for the clones to utilize.
These Turrets are the only thing that really effects the MTT and can only be used by the player, or players (yes there is multiplayer)
The turrets have a fairly large amount of health and a slow regeneration time once destroyed. They also take forever (minuets) to reload and also take a while
to charge up for a shot. There will be some droids who will try to destroy these Ion disruptor turrets so If you play as the clones be sure to defend them if you want to have
an MTT take down victory. If you want to go for a command post victory I suggest you play as a class with land mines or a auto turret to defend the command post while you
are gone. Or play multiplayer with friends and control the the battlefield !!

If the clones destroy the CIS MTT it is an automatic win. However if the CIS defend their MTT for 15 minuets it will destroy the nabbo palace and they take the victory.

Not initially but it is an idea I had. I would want to do something like ground to space first but It's totally a possibility for the future !!

of course this campaign mode is not confirmed at this point but its likely that after some time we may see this idea brought to the light of day. The map could defiantly handle it, This is a pretty premium map and its quickly getting better. Tell me what you think.

If you need young Padme, there are some really good custom JKA models of her in her action suit at the end and her handmaidens. They would just need to be converted. I could do that for you (make a BFII friendly mesh), though you may have to enlist someone to envelope and match the bones and the JKA skeleton to it. Deviss might do that part, he does that all the time. He may also let you use his young Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon models from his great Clone Wars Extended 3.0 mod if you ask him.

Thank You :D beside being one of the more beautiful maps I've created it plays pretty well too - I added your name to the alpha test list already. (as I did with everyone else who has posted something on this thread, so don't worry everyone else your added too) Hopefully you are all interested in testing this map. :)

Yes - they will both be changed ! There will be whole new HD models for the Jet and Heavy and sniper more accurate to the original BF2 2017.
I saw Deltas mod for the naboo assault on Theed it is very well done, but while making this map I wanted to mimic the fast pasted action of battlefront 2 along with some other things such as a closer over the shoulder view, endless sprint ability, every weapon including the first order ones, thinner and faster lasers, more health, no item drops on death ect.
I was considering asking delta's to possibly have access to the assets of his mod but at this point I wont need to contact him.
Once again nothings wrong with deltas mod at all, He even said himself "this is a quick little mod, it's not meant to be 100% accurate" and I know I cant be 100% accurate but I want to get very close.

This whole campaign mode idea all of this hinges on two things really:

1. How well the alpha test goes.
If everyone plays the alpha and says "wow this map seems very far along" and "its not super buggy", then it is very likely I will be creating an epic multistory campaign - If not then the campaign probably will not happen. My goal is to get as close to EA's battlefront as possible first and then be done with this map before battlefront 2 is released (Nov17th).

2. If I can find people willing to help me create some models and mshs. I am good at map design, attention to detail (If I have time), taking things from stock maps and seeing where they fit on another, over the top combat. I can not make models or hex edit to save my life :cpu: so I would 100% need people to help me with this if i were to make a story mode.

What I have already:
*Gungans with their sheilds and weapons along with walking fambas and kaddus
*Quarsh Panaka
*CIS forces
*Naboo Gaurd models
*Naboo Pilot models
*Decoy Queen
*Qui-Gon
*Darth Maul
*Naboo Star Fighters
*Viceroy Model
*An enterable Core ship (from battles of the storm)
(I would like a slightly more detailed version of the corship but the one I have will work so its not to big of a concern)
* The map itself is also now campaign capable. After looking at some official theed reference maps everything is in place for a mode of this scope

What I Would need:
*A naboo hanger
*A naboo power generator room (where the darth maul battle takes place)
*Young Pademe
*Young Obiwan
*Kid Anikin - could maybe use ewok animations
*Theed Palace meshes
*The knowledge of how to do ground to space


Thank you for your willingness to help Xezene. If everything goes well I will contact you and anyone else who is willing to help.
I would actually need a small team to do things like redesign starfighter combat, make the character models listed above, make naboo meshes listed above, munge new sounds, and make or provide me with accurate animations ALL before nov 17th. I would also make sure anyone who helps will share the credit along with me for the release of this map.


Oh and a also side note also I did not play the BF2 Alpha by the way guys so once the beta for BF2 is out the map will probably improve.

If you want I can do Padme and young Obi Wan,and Sereja is doing a similar map for BF1 and he always release his assets,So I think you will have the palace interior
