Robots vs Scientists - A side mod - Public beta release v1.0

Post by zwyx1234 »

Hello everyone! Here is my first mod that I have sucessfully completed and am releasing to the general public. You can download it from dropbox here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/on2ickgnjctyt ... %20v1.0.7z

Here is the README I wrote up:
Hidden/Spoiler:
ROBOTS VS SCIENTISTS - A SIDE MOD FOR STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT II
PUBLIC BETA V1.0

Author zwyx1234 (pronounced zee-wicks or zee-wix one two three four)

Contact information:
-Steam: zwyx12341 (don't forgot the 1 at the end!)
-Email: zwyx1234@gmail.com
-Gametoast.com forums or private messaging system

Authors notes:
The following mod may have bugs or glitches, as it is in public beta. Please contact me, the author, and report any bugs.

Please keep in mind that everything here is subject to change. The public beta is meant
so that you, the player, can provide feedback that will turn into the final version of
the mod.

The project was started because I love to create custom content, but am not very good at making playable maps.
Therefore, a side mod seemed like a reasonable project that I could do. There is really not much more to it, and I hope you
will enjoy playing the public beta!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation:
To install, copy the RSM folder to your addon folder.

If you have the disc version of the game, the addon will be located here by default:

C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\Addon\

If you have the steam version of the game, the addon will be located here by default:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon

This mod features all of the following:
-Custom ambient music of distant artillery shells and machine-gun fire
-Custom knife and knife animation
-A custom robot model and kitbashed texture
-Custom weapon models and textures
-A re-skinned republic commander model to fit the role of a bio-hazard trooper
-Custom sound effects, including reloading and firing of weapons
-Four (4) unit classes, including assault, recon, support, and close-quarters
-Full English localization. Apologies if you play in other languages
-Custom era icon. At the time of this release, it should be solid red. ***This will be changed in a future release.***

Some backstory:
At a secret facility, a group of scientists were experimenting with robotic artificial intelligences. When the robots became self aware,
the scientists tried to scrap the project. The robots went rouge, and the firefight that ensued will make sure that the winner would
never attempt such a project again.

Plan of action:
Initially, this mod will be released as a side mod. In a couple weeks, I plan on releasing a map to go with it.
The map will probably have a campaign with it, to fit the storline outlined above.

Credits:
-Marth8880 for general help and inspiration
-THEWULFMAN for general help and inspiration
-All sound assets were taken from freesound.org, modified and editted as needed by me.

Thats it! If you made it to the end of the readme, congratulations, you earn a free cookie.
And now for the legal info...

THIS MOD IS NOT MADE, DISTRIBUTED, OR SUPPORTED BY LUCASARTS, A DIVISION OF LUCASFILM ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LTD. ELEMENTS TM & (C) LUCASARTS, A DIVISION OF LUCASFILM ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY LTD.

To do list:
-Remake most of the models and textures in "HD" if you will. Some of them are pretty low poly. Here is a comparison as an example:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7nvpl9c369h4y ... son_01.PNG

The one on the left is the new one, the one on the right is the one thats in the beta at this time. The difference is about 350 triangles for this model, plus numerous texture improvements.

-Add more playable maps. If you guys have any suggestions, let me know! Currently, Mos Eisly is the only playable map.
-Change the era's icon to something better than solid red.
-Any other suggestions you guys come up with.

I hope you will enjoy the beta release of my mod! :D
