Hello I'm lorul1 creator of Battles of the Storm. Welcome to my Assault on Theed Alpha project for Star Wars Battlefront 2 2005 !!

Making Battles of the Storm was so much fun and hearing everyone reaction to size and scale of the battles was an awesome experance.
What made Battles of the Storm good was that you were a single unit placed in a 100+ vs 100+ battle and you really get a sense of all out WAR.

After watching the alpha footage of battlefront 2 EA, I was impressed. Of course EA did well with graphics and sound design again. But the only problem that I saw with their Assault on Theed is that it didn't seem big enough ... it wasn't a war. When I think of the clone wars I think of the thousands of clones battling on Geonosis, or the hundreds of droids storming the beach of kashyyyk with so many laser and missiles everywhere. Star wars battles especially clone wars battles ARE over the top, chaotic , and have hundreds of clones. As of right now EA's Theed seem's ... empty. Which is why today you have the ability to play on my assault on Theed map with 100+ clones holding off and invasion of 100+ droids. This makes for over the top chaotic battles. I mean isn't that what an ASSAULT should look like ?
Hopefully EA will add an "XL" or "battlefield 1 operations" type mode at some point, but I the message to DICE and EA is that we want large scale clone wars battles JUST like we saw on TV and in the Movies ! We want to be IN the battles and that means chaos and scale (bigger maps and higher player and vehicle count).

I want as many people as possible to play this early alpha guys! If you have a friend who plays battlefront - share this map with him. Are you running a YouTube channel? PLEASE make a video to share with your viewers ! Does your mom play battlefront ? Tell her about It ! Does your pet fish like battlefront ? tell him too !! KEEP IN MIND !!! - This is an UNFINISHED and UNSTABLE map. I made it in ONE month! but once you get your hands on it and actually play the map just know in one more month the beta should (theoretically) be twice as good. I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH that I will literally be releasing an unfinished version of this map I'm making.
(but lorul1 WHY RELEASE UN UNFINISHED MAP ??? - Because I want people to play it before EA's Beta. This will also give people an opportunity to suggest ideas.)
THIS IS NOT A REMAKE PROJECT LIKE Battlefront 3 legacy.

GAMEPLAY
At the start of this map both teams (Republic and Separatist) Will start off by trying to take each other's command post.
At the same time as this conquest battle, a CIS MTT will be en-route to the Naboo Palace.
As the MTT moves past command post it will lock them for the Separatist pushing them forward toward the palace.
If the clones destroy the CIS MTT it is an automatic win. However, if the CIS defend their MTT for 15 minutes it will destroy the Nabbo palace and they take the victory.
GROUND TO SPACE is available in this map.

STORY MODE

THIS IS A CONCEPT NOT A CONFIRMED UPDATE

I was thinking of maybe even campaign mode or something to that extent in the future.
The player would get the choice to play as Quarsh Panaka ,Young Padme ,Young Anakin , Qui-gon Gin, Jar Jar , Or Obi-wan Kenobi
Each with their own unique story - because you would play from their perspective.

All 6 characters would start in the forest on the ground level away from Theed. Jar Jar would leave to engage in the war vs the droids in the Naboo fields and the other 5 would have to enter the Naboo palace from the secret waterfall passages as Padme says in ep1. After sneaking around Theed for a bit (without getting caught) They all would cause a distraction then enter the palace to escort anakin and some Naboo pilots to their ship. If you are playing as Anakin here, you would have to go into space to complete the rest of your mission taking down the control ship from the inside. If you are playing as Obi or Qui-gon - you would battle Darth Maul. If you are Quarsh Panaka or Young Padme you would take the remaining Naboo soldiers to go after the viceroy.

Some careful scripting would make sure no one falls out of character or go where they are not supposed to be. Die and the mission is failed. let an essential Allie die and the mission is also failed. let to many Naboo soldiers or gungans die - mission failed. Fall out of line (killing jar jar right away, suicide, killing the viceroy, getting caught while sneaking around theed in the beginning, going where your not supposed to be) And the game will also result in a mission failed.

On top of playing as the 6 main characters you would also have the option of playing as one of the three normal soldiers groups (Naboo guards, Naboo pilots, or gungans) in an "attrition" type battle within this campaign mode - seeing the battle of Naboo from their perspectives. As one of the theses three groups respawns would be possible because you are playing as the whole group (much like the campaign from normal battlefront 2).

And on top of all that goodness - a campaign co-op mode where You and up to 6 friends can take control of the 6 main characters and play through each of their rolls.

NOPE , yeah so once again the big thing with this project is that I don't want it to take forever for me to create like Battles of the Storm did , I have a YouTube channel that needs some much needed new content. Adding a good Galactic Civil War would be out of my time frame because I'm guessing you guys want that pretty awesome campaign mode for this map (as I was talking about earlier). You'll get your GCW in Battles of The Storm 2.0

Can I give this alpha to friends ? :
Yup ! sure , I think multiplayer still works ... maybe, maybe not. I dont want you publishing it to the world - but friends, sure !! If you want to put a link in your youtube video to this post so your viewers can download this map - go ahead , that allowed !

Can I YouTube this alpha ? :
YES actually I encourage it !! I want people to see it - I want EA to see it !! Tell everyone !!!!!!!!!!

Oh for goodness sakes ! :faint: As much as I don't like to think about situations like this it shouldn't come as a suprise that EA will do anything to stop what they deem a "threat to their franchise". obviously I am not making this with harmful intentions to them, I'm making this for fun - and I already removed the sounds that were taken from their aplha from my mod to avoid the EULA. I want this mod to start conversations - I want people to remember the old battlefront and form an opinion on what they think. I want them to compare and contrast. HOPFULLY they do not give me a C&D ! It would not be wise of them because that would probably gain more attention to the fact that they actually gave me one and trigger a large audience of people who may not know about this mod to get mad at them ... it would make them look bad ... or worse than they already do.


TIPS & POINTERS
Hidden/Spoiler:
As a guy who is REALLY good at battlefront 2 2005 I can confidently say that this map does require some level of skill at the game. It is much more fast paced and you have to be light on your feet. I don't think its unplayable hard - but surviving is a bit harder than vanilla maps

One reason behind this is because I changed certain things such as unit health - Depending on the class you pick - You will have more or less health.

*Health and ammo do not drop when a unit dies - and as of now there is no auto health regeneration.
*All weapons use heat ... except for maybe two or something
*There will be no health and ammo droids - not only are they not in EA's battlefront but also slow down the speed of the game.
*all classes except the heavy and heroes have endless sprint !
*collisions are not fixed yet so star fighters may randomly explode when flying over buildings - THIS WILL BE FIXED
*Speaking of dogfights - They aren't exciting yet so I advise you stay on the ground
*YES you can go to space but other than the control ship there isn't much up there yet
*The game mode and scripting is still being worked on so its not really conquest its more of a death match as I stated before.
*Droids can enter the MTT and shoot lasers

The ASSAULT class
is equipped with a default blaster which fires a little slower than the stock blaster to give you an Idea of what it feels like. He's really light on his feet and the fastest class. He is the only one with thermal detonators and has a shotgun (in the grenade slot) that can fire 5 shots before a 20 second cool down ! He is pretty basic

The HEAVY has a fast firing (and easily overheating) blaster. He also has a chain gun blaster that can cause massive damage if used right, but then suffers from a long cool down before it can be used again !! He also has a shield. NOTE that the AI do frequently use these heavy blasters with high accuracy and are the normally the death of a hero or jet trooper you whenever you play a hero.

The SPECIALIST has ... well ... a sniper ... that shoots actually laser bullets rather than just lasers that appear when fired like the stock sniper. Sniping feels like actual sniping now !! He also has a turret he can deploy to protect him while sniping. For the time being he can also cloak as well
He also has landmines.

The OFFICER has a pistol but can be supper useful behind the heavy and assault which take the front lines. His pistol fires as fast as you can click your mouse - In other words the faster you click the faster he will fire ! He also has a grenade launcher that the AI don't tend to use that much so I will not Nerf this for you guys for the alpha.
You'll wanna stick around those officers guys - because they have a buff that will give you (and themselves) health and defense.

The JUMP TROOPER has a jet pack as well as the officers pistol and a rocket launcher - and the SUPER BATTLE DROID has a normal laser as well as fast firing laser similar to the heavy class. SBD's also have a wrist rocket and a super beefy health bar so don't get in his way. As of now, these units do not have points you need to earn to play as them although maybe they should.

Yoda and Maul are the hero's - both have saber throw and force push - which have both been fixed up revamped - force push is actually fun now. You can send units flying !!! and if they are low on health they will die. Hero's normally get gunned down by the chain guns so watch out for those.

All BF2 Mods are compatible with PC only and
don't worry this one is not a 1.7 GB like battles of the storm was :funny2:

Please note that there are TONS of YouTube videos on how to install battlefront 2 mods !
EVERY BF2 MAP is installed the same way - so a simple google search can help you if my instructions are unclear.
This map has a lot to it and probably requires a fair amount of power to play - if it is slowing down for you it is your PC's strength - not the map

INSTALATION
Installation is quick and easy, so lets get to it !
first you must determine weather you own star wars battlefront 2 on a disk or if you own it on steam
If you own battlefront 2 on steam follow the steam instructions below.
If you own battlefront 2 on a disk follow the disk instructions below.

*** STEAM INSTALLATION ***
Hidden/Spoiler:
1. Lets open steam and get to our list of games! Once the steam application is opened on your PC, get to
your list of games by clicking the library tab. Once this is done right mouse click the star wars battlefront
2 title. From there select "properties".

2. In the star wars battlefront 2 properties window you will see three tabs lets go to the "local files" tab
and click on "browse local files". now a window should pop up open the GameData folder. in that Gamedata folder
there might be a folder called "addon", if this folder is there it is because you have downloaded other
battlefront 2 maps, if it is not there right-mouse click and select new then folder (we are making a new folder)
name this folder "addon" - just like that with out the quotation marks - all lower case it will look like this

3. minimize the folder you are in (GameData) and in the folder you have downloaded there should be a folder called
AOT. take that WHOLE AOT folder and move it into your "addon" folder. Your done !

Note: battlefront 2 can only support 51 modded maps. if you have over 51 in your "addon" folder try storing some somewhere else
Tip : these maps are ment to be played with battlefronts LOD and view settings turned all the way up ! make sure to do this in battlefront 2's settings tab - in game or on the main menu.

1. You need to locate your battlefront 2 game files so that we can put my maps in there so you can play it. by default battlefront

C drive > program files x86 > lucasarts > star wars battlfront II > GameData

Is a very beautiful map,and with a refreshing gameplay with the countdown and unlimited reinforcements,and I really like the structure of the city,something I didn't like from naboo:siege on theed ,(the best naboo map before the release of this one) is the so dispersed position of the buildings and the lack of flowers,maybe the plains feel empty,maybe would be good add the ruins or shaaks if there is a 3d model ,and the lampposts with flags ,but these are minor issues,good work with this map and keep it up,maybe you can add nemoidians in the trade federation core ship interior and this ship

@Javitolo98 Thanks for the response I really appreciate it ! Originally the plains had a forest as well as MTT's placed on the hill as a reference to the gungan battle. My plan is to add more things like ruins and shacks and more details and plants ect like you are saying, but the problem is the object limit ... I cant really place down anymore than I have now until i find away to get around it so that is the problem I'm facing. The trade federation ship will get an interior for the campaign mode IF I can get some help with 3d models and such. Going into the interior on the non campaign mode depends on how far I get and what future builds will play like, . nemoidians also depend on how well they match the gameplay ... maybe I could add them in as an unplayable team or something ... my goal is to stick with EA's vision of battlefront 2 and kinda put it into battlefront 2 classic . Hero assault - I guess it wouldn't be too hard to do although campaign would take priority.

But I will say everyone - I have played the Battlefront 2 EA Beta today and surprisingly my map is very close to it - for someone who had zero access to the alpha id say i got pretty close ! and the map is only gunna get better ! I dont think I will be adding in EVERYTHING ea has in there's some things I dont really like - for example the red recoloring of the storm troopers - that just doesn't fit my vision. But there are also some things that I do plan on adding in like an Laat gunship that acts as a turret - with a glass first person view. (My plan is to have it circle around the map when the player enters a turret chair with the model of an laat that will spawn somewhere on the map). I also want to do things like make my map have rain - but instead of rain the texture is actually green leaves - then I will put a non rain region around every area that does not have a high amount of trees ! - I also want to add all the ships that were playable in the beta and also that cool rocket droid and the wookie (although I think the wookie is a little silly for naboo).

i really like the map i spotted a few bugs

bugs:
1. the place looks unfinished (it looks good still)
2. the shield is to small on the heavy troopers.
3. some of the clones run into the buildings

Very well made map so far for an Alpha release. Definitely still needs work as you said but I am loving the sides and the map itself so far. The weapon localization is a problem but I am assuming you are SQUASHING the bigger BUGS in this mod map first before getting to the smaller bugs.

I originally made a big 'ol value judgment here, and that wasn't fair. I know as well as anyone how much unpaid effort gets put in to making something substantial, and I empathize with wanting to be paid for it. However, I'm pretty positive the EULA forbids us from asking for payment. I'm not unaware of the argument of the nuance between asking for an up-front cost and asking for a donation, but it's a little intellectually dishonest to say that the two are really different. So as far as what you do here, don't ask for donations here.

I wanna thank everyone over on YouTube and ModDB for the positive feed back as well as the things you wanted to see improve that's why today I am happy to announce soon a new update is coming out !

Naboo: Assault on Theed ALPHA v0.5.6 !!!

In 5.6 there will be lots of changes to fix what was wrong in my initial alpha release as well as some new things for you to try out !

First off, I have heard your responses.
In 5.6 I will fix the number one problem EVERYONE HAS BEEN TELLING ME : weapon damage, weapon overheats, and health.
The reason why the health of the units were so high is because there are so many units in such an enclosed place I didn't want the player to get killed every 5 seconds so to counter act this I boosted everyone's health :) . To achieve a better weapon damage and health system for 5.6 I had to bring down the unit count just a little - but now it is much easier to make kills and if you use smart tactics you wont be running away from battle as often.

You guys also didn't like the speed of the MTT, Instead of it taking 15 minuets to reach the place now it takes 7 !!

I know many of you asked for Rey and also asked about the first order heavy weapon. In 5.6 BOTH will be included HOWEVER because EA will likely move both Rey and the first order heavy blaster to the correct era for the final version of their game, these will both be removed from my map as well for the final version. The reason why I included the first order blaster and the reason why Rey will be in the upcoming build is because I'm trying to show how close the old battlefront 2 can get to the new one in this regard. This mod is actually gaining some attention so when people are making comparison videos they will be able to say "look even Rey from the beta is in here" ... Its attention to detail ok ? Lol

v5.6 Will not focus that much on object placement which I also know a concern some of you had.
There is another modder named Sereja who does battlefront 1 mods. He has been creating a Naboo Map well before EA decided to announce theirs.
His map has very accurate props and is very well done ! Once Sereja's map is released he will probably release his assets to his maps as he always
does meaning with his permission this map will see a MAJOR improvement in object placement. Just look at some of the images from his unreleased map and imagine them
in this Asssult on Theed map , he is truly talented :

When Sereja release his assets Do you will replace the actual palace exterior by Sereja's one or you will just put the interiors inside the actual Palace? A nice part of Sereja's assets is that he release the world too,so In Zero editor with multi select and save group options you can copy and paste the Sereja's palace in your map with the interiors and props inside it without importing the props one by one and repositioning it to fit with the exterior.

I said this because it seems that the Sereja's Palace is bigger than the stock one ,so maybe the interiors don't fit with the exterior

IF this is the case then yes ... actually I probably will do this just because his model will be nicer.

And everyone, you can bet your bippy ill be changing the terrain and layout in the beta as well to be more accutare to EA's

I want the beta to be very close to the final project and without Sereja's assets I cant go much further ... well I could probably do some terrain fixes and more little stuff but I'm kinda at the point where I wait for his assets then see what Objects I need to combine etc.

@lordaugusto The over the shoulder camera setting is programmed inside the files for each class. This means sadly you can not just add this camera to any map you want. Pandemic studios have provided us with the files to edit all the original maps in battlefront two, so technically if you would really want this camera view in a map like coruscant for example, it is possible to edit the camera settings for each class with the mod tools , an make your edited coruscant map recognize your "custom units" !

If you want to have this over the shoulder cam on your own mod it is possible too using the same method above.

A few years back I compiled some of my tips and tricks which includes a tutorial for this over the shoulder camera thing if you are interested in it.
The tips and tricks were from battles of the storm - soon Ill be updating it to include the camera values I used in my Theed map as well as, optimization tricks, map graphic quality tricks, and much much more !
