how to make invisible weapon

Post by Anakin »

Hi,

i wanted to make an invisible weapon. It's for the SBD. There shouldn't be a mesh, but i need the hp_fire for correct muzzle effect placement.

So i created a new mesh containing only hp_active and hp_fire as a child of hp_active. But for some reason i get the error, cis_weap_dummy_wrist.msh not found. Although the msh is in the msh folder. i copied the name to the odf file.
So i thought it may be a problem that the msh does not contain any mesh but only the both hp_active and hp_fire.

I looked at the stock sbd for reference, but it has no mesh at all. So i wonder how did they place the fire effect at it's proper position??

Look for the "cis_weap_inf_sbdroidmuzzle.msh" in the bfx assets or in the bf1 stock cis side.

I don't know nothing about xsi nor things related to it. I was just saying that you can find a working "invisible weapon" without wasting time on making something that already exist.

It places the muzzle flash on the "handle-spot", but I can't help if you are looking for something else, I did what I could.

Those 2 hp's in that screenshot are meshes, just hidden.

There are cases where .msh files don't work when they don't have any materials. It's possible that the Pandemic exporter would export materials even if no geometry in the exported hierarchy referenced it, which ZETools doesn't do. So you might just have to export some small/hidden geometry even if stock meshes don't have any.
Might be worth a try.
