I've already done searches for tuts, but does anyone have or know of a beginner's tutorial for building and exporting models into BF2?

the modeling part youll have to learn on your own becuase you need to learn to use the program first, look in the help files. as for the exporting objects, read the mod tools documentation, to you it probably sounds like jibberish but its because you havnt learned how to use XSI yet.

or use the Basic Modelling tutorial. it's uploaded at Filefront, it teach you how to create a simple XSI Objects to SWBF1. the modelling is mainly the same for 1 and 2 :roll:

remember that this is for SWBF1. but you can ask about how to get your models into SWBF2 later on :P
