How do i add SWBF msh viewer exe to the program list?
Hi,
i'm really tired to search through my explorer, to find the swbf msh Viewer.exe everytime i'm working on an msh. Does someone know how i can add the exe to the program list?? SO i just press Windows, type SWBF and he find the exe and start it.
I think it should be easy to add an registry key and it should work, but i don't knwo where and what the key should be about

Re: An swbf msh viewer to programs
What you want would work automaticly if your SWBFViewer.exe was on C:\ , but not if it's on some other harddrive (-partition). Move the program's folder over to C or just use a shortcut like I suggested, then you won't even have to use the start menu and search to run the program.

so let me get this straight. you want to be able to run it by clicking on the .exe under C:/programfiles/SWBF Viewer.exe correct? Can't you just move the .exe and the BF1 and 2 list.file into your program files data? If this ain't right, a screen would be helpful where you want it exactly.

This is for the purpose of running the application by simply typing its name in the search box after pushing the windows key, it will be dealing with the registry path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/2-ways-to ... search-box
If you're looking for the registry path for the start menu itself you can find it around here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
You'll find some values that may look familiar, though I don't think this will help you with your specific problem.
If you want the application permanently in your start menu, you can right-click the .exe and select "pin to start-menu." If none of this is what you want, please explain just a little more, and also if none of those worked, what OS you have might be good to know.

That's exactly what i was looking for thank you so much.
Maybe you also can help me with this:
i have to type the whole name swbfviewer until windows find the program. for other prgm i just need to type the first letters. e.g.: i type "v" and the first two programs shown up are Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate and Virtuouse Ten Studio. And that works for all programs, musik, files,....
But when i type start typing swbf Windows shows me the swbf2-v1.3 patch installer exe, but the viewer is only shown when i wrote the whole name. is there a way that Win search for it while writing the name??

I'm not sure why the search does things like that, you could possibly try changing your shortcut or key called 'swbfviewer' to something more unique? As there are several programs on your computer that start with swbf.
As far as how the search is built, windows does that through an index file and manages this on its own. If you go to control panel and type "Indexing options" in the search, you'll find some limited options about how windows builds its search index. If you change your shortcut to something else and you're still having problems, it might be good to rebuild your index, though it may take a while. When you're on the Indexing options screen, go to advanced and there will be a button that says rebuild. Windows is supposed to do this automatically in the background every time you change the location of something, or create something, but sometimes it gets off sync I guess and rebuilding its database can sometimes help searches be more accurate.

Great! Let me know if indexing that entire folder does what you want. If not I'll try and figure out some more things to try.
