That's not really a software, but I've founded on Fravia a good document about free file hosting:

And here another guide:

http://code.google.com/p/zscreen/ - A free, open-source screen capture utility. Very advanced, can automatically and instantly upload captured images to image-/file-sharing sites such as Dropbox, ImageShack, PhotoBucket, Box, etc.

Great screen recording and game recording software. You can also stream with it or just record it to files. Extremely versatile; you can do a lot of different things with it.

How does it compare to Fraps in terms of A/V bit rates and CPU power consumption?

Well, it can record longer than 30 seconds at a time, so it's better than Fraps, and it can record longer than 10 minutes without freezing and "factory resetting" itself, so it's better than Xfire. When I've used it a couple times, on my PC I haven't noticed much trouble with performance.

Only problem is it records to .mp4 and I can't find a functioning editor that can import that... but the recording won't take up as much space as an .avi, so that's... good I guess...

15 seconds of Fraps = 217 MB
15 Seconds of OBS = 292 KB

Actually, with that test, OBS was recording in higher quality than Fraps.

CPU consumption when recording with Fraps = Over 3%
CPU consumption when recording with OBS = Over 9%

However, if you were playing a game or doing anything else this would not affect performance.

If you want to see what I do with OBS, see this video. You can set up how and what you want it to record very easily.

In that video I have my client open first with a background and my webcam with a border picture. It transitions into the game flawlessly.

Decent-ish, especially considering it's free. The reason, however, why Fraps' videos are so huge in file size is because they are completely uncompressed and raw as down and dirty as it can get to the very last pixel and RGB color - and for $35, I still say it's worth it.

https://www.spotify.com/

Spotify is similar to Itunes, but the music is free. They make this possible by having a 30 second ad every once in a while. I think it's great for listening to random stuff when I'm on the computer.

I love Spotify - the Premium subscription completes the perfection, I've been paying for it since August of last year. I use it every single day; I use it the most on my phone to stream music for listening in my car during my 1-1.5 hour commutes to and from work, and to and from wherever I drive. Argh! I just love Spotify so freaking much! :runaway:

For those of you who are fans of modular progress or large and complicated projects, you should try Git (http://git-scm.com/). It's a free open-source version control system that archives workflow in an organized manner on a remote server so that you can have the luxury of falling back to previous versions or performing hotfixes without having tons of the same file on your computer. Additionally, using public and private keys you can collaborate with other computers and the program will automatically merge updated files and isolate any conflicts so the user can fix them (this feature works really well for coding projects :D ). It's primarily designed for storing code, but it can also be used to store any form of file, and even minor amounts of data backup. I highly recommend it.
