Sweet! :P This will be my 7th year playing....

I'm still interested in getting another cellist for a quartet to play apocalyptica's "Nothing Else Matters"

Actually, Im for the Mary had a little lamb, since I know how to play it for real on the harmonica. In fact, put me up for harmonica as well.

I completely agree with you there. People can use the time they waste playing Guitar Hero to learn how to play an actual guitar or any other instrument for the matter. This is what I tell my Guitar Hero freak friends and their answers are always, in a whiney voice, "It's tooooooo hard." That is why you practice.

As for me I play the violin (6 years) and piano (4 years, self-taught) but I also make music on surfaces and other simple instruments. Bandtoast, eh? I don't how this will work but it seems like a good idea, I think. Will a "Post your Composition" thread be good?

EDIT: The C Major scale will be good for a test piece but for "Mary had a Little Lamb" we will need different parts, right? Or will we be playing the same part? Keep in mind that most of the instruments mentioned are in the concert key of C.

We can transpose it into other keys if we need to. (One whole step down for trumpet, clarinet and tenor sax, for example, since they're Bb instruments.)

Actually one whole step up for Bb instruments, since our C = concert Bb

I'm a sax player (but I only own a tenor and alto) of about 10-11 years.

And I might have mentioned this before, but it's not hard to put together an internet band with a bit of forethought. A friend of mine participates in this band (NESkimos), which is an internet band, and they do their music by recording individual tracks and splicing together everything on one computer (Audacity works great). You just need basically a bass track (or whoever has the most beat-intensive part) that everyone can play off of, or if you really feel like investing the time, you can have one build off of the bass, compile, have another build off of that, have another... etc.

*rises from the dead*

Your friend is in the NESkimos? Thats pretty sweet.

Anyway, I noticed that you don't have a vocalist. I can do both clean and harsh vocals, and rap a bit, although it may be just me having delusions of grandieur.

I also took up (electric) bass a while ago, and I play the Baritone Horn/Euphonium, so if you need something like that...

I still lack a means of recording though, it'll probably have to wait until I get a better computer, which will probably be in 6 months. I may be able to do the vocals sooner though.

Anyway, thats a great idea, and I'd be glad to participate.

:| A "bit" of piano? I don't know about you, but to me, 8 years of playing piano is a little more than "a bit" ;) (referring to your post with the list, Rep)
