Karate Kid (2010)

Post by RogueKnight »

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTALVeYu4ng

I can't personally say that I like it that much, Jaden Smith is too young and small to be playing a role like that. It seems to be a little too far away from the original for my liking, but I'll probably see it anyways.

I think it might be a good movie, but the last 11 seconds of the trailer is my fav part.

QFT, but I don't think I would like this movie. First, the kid looks way too small. It makes it look like the Chinese are beating up on a 6 year old. Second, Jackie Chan? Maybe, depends on how much of his character is comic relief or being Mr. Miyagi.

IMO, it won't live up to the original film.

He's 11, which is too young in my opinion. I mean, in the original Karate Kid, Danny Larusso was 16. That made sense.

Somehow I think this is doomed for failure. This is sorta like making a remake of Star Wars or something. You just don't do that.

China will either love it or hate it. They'll love it for the use of (unless this was filmed in Chinatown, CA) any Chinese tradition or martial art or Jackie Chan in this case, or will hate it for the film's portrayal of Chinese as evil.

How about the movie being called "Karate Kid"? As far as I know, Karate isn't a Chinese martial art.

While Karate was developed in Japan, it was based partially off Chinese Kenpo.

another miserable film "adaption" of a popular franchise.......
i cant imagine how they can make such movies knowing that everybody who knew the original will hate it
sometimes they should really think of more than money
