Kyle Katarn - Released!

Post by Linus »

Okay, guys, I've decided to release another skin. This time it's Kyle Katarn from the Jedi Knight-series. The skin works on the jed_inf_jedi03.tga-unit. If you want to use it in your maps, go ahead, I wont stop you. If you use it, mention me in the credits...

Uh...that looks like Kyle's "special" little brother. Not trying to be negative but that looks nothing like Kyle.

Agreed. The face looks a bit too blurry.

Pretty good Linus! I must admit, it does look blurry, but overall looks o.k. The face looks pretty accurate though.

It's kinda hard to get the face not-blurry when you are working with Microsoft Paint... ;) :P

This is what Kyle Katarn should look like. The model you made is just sloppy. Did you even put any effort into it? Or is it mostly because it's using a pre-existing model?

First of all, I did not make a model. I did a reskin... :?

I recommend using GIMP to edit your skins. I have been recommended it and it is good. Maybe u should try it.

I used Microsoft Paint to put the face on the skin, I did the rest of the work in the The GNU Image Manipulation Program... :P

I think that Kyle is very good for just a reskin, especially with Paint!! All I have is paint, so I don't even attempt skinning.

Not bad, but I think he needs a little more work. Take a look at the pictures Lateralusj00 posted and work a bit harder on his clothes; the shoulder pad, etc. I think the face is great though, it would be even better if the head was less wide, but you'd need to be a modeller to do that. Otherwise good job, especially with MS Paint and The GIMP.

I mean that I pasted the face on the skin (And painted some details) in Microsoft Paint. I did the rest in *GIMP. Actually, I think that Paint is best tool for small details and such... :D

That's pretty good just using Microsoft Paint Linus, good job.

Off Topic: A free skinning tool I would suggest is Paint.Net.

I guess that's the problem then. Atleast you tried.

Well, part of the problem is that His face is a different color than the skin of his neck, and his beard doesn't extend onto the neck, making it look kind of like the original jedi wearing a kyle katarn mask. If you could paint a little more hair going down onto his neck, it should look fine.

Well, I am happy with the texture, if anyone wants to edit it, go ahead.
