Endor; Base [GCW]

This is my latest map, you've seen some screenies already, but it's far bigger now. It's Endor, but a bit different. Outside is a 'normal' forest with different vehicles (including Endor Forest Ranger) and the inside is smaller as before, but still a very important point on the battlefield. I've finished barriers and planning, might fix some more small impurities, like textures, terrain, lighting etc. But I'm quite pleased with the result

The rebels will have the base, including heavy defense turrets, and the smaller but versatile Forest Rangers. Empire will have the outer forest, but supported by TIE Maulers and an AT-ST. Heroes.. suprise for now!

First to say that the lighting looks too bright for endor (brighter than stocks)

Besides that it looks quite nice :D

Will have to wait for more updates

Just have a little comment, stupid really, but oh well. In the Outside pics in the first one the heavy turret has no name at the top. Pretty stupid of me to make a comment on that, but oh well.
I have to say the map looks promising. It's a new, refreshing look at Endor. :thumbs:

I see some sheer terrain walls in the Endor pics that need to be fixed. And why does everything look so... washed out? Did you mess around with your ingame contrast settings or does the map actually look like this?

I didn't mess around with the ingame settings at all. Just copied over some endor files.. Lighting will be improved, as will those terrain walls.. But that for the next update

The lighting in the base looks paticularly stunning. Great work Manderek!
Can I just say that you've got this fantastic lighting in the foreground of the forest, then this kinda white haze in the background which looks slightly odd in contrast? You might want to see if you can change that, but it's just a suggestion.

The lighting looks a lot better now, although I might recommend setting up the cloud shadows like in the shipped Endor. Right now it looks like the forest floor is covered by one massive shadow without any bits of light poking through the trees.

Just out of curiosity, is this meant to represent the battle from the movie? From the side setup, it doesn't look to be. If it's non-canon, that's fine by me (in fact, I'm getting pretty sick of the whole obsession over "canonocity" these days). Like I said, I'm just curious.

How would I do that? I was thinking of a new, darker sky, or at least darker fog.. But I'm sortoff clueless to get the perfect combination. Fog color might be a good start.

I thought the shipped Endor covered the movie mostly, I was more searching of an 'original' map, with enough room for some vehicle/turret gameplay, and GCW only. Now Endor seemed the perfect combination! At first it started with the base interior only, but the outside was soon added.. So yeah, it's non-canon ;)

I actually don't know off-hand how to set it up either, since I've never done it myself, but if you look at the shipped Endor you'll notice that there's an effect of some sort on the ground to simulate shadows from the clouds. I think it might be a detail texture or something like that - if you look through the world folder in the Endor assets you should find something referencing it.

Wow, I haven't checked on this mod for a while and I'm liking the new maps, units, and vehicles. I really like this one because not many people customize Endor which is kinda sad seeing how it's such an important battle during the GCW era.

Thanks, and I added the fx, but somehow my map freezes now when I try to spawn.. First error was missing light "sun", so I removed that line, but still freezing. Will remove and clean, see if it works.

Think you could try a random skydomes thing? Maybe have a night version of Endor for once?

It's a great pic, but I'm afraid I'm not going to put a lot of time and effort in this anymore, and I'm really shaping things up now. I've never done random skydomes before, and it would be 'unfair' to have it on 1 map, and not on all.
