Last Days WIP Thread - HS updates

This thread'll be used for updates on the full DS release.

The main differences between the first release and the full release are/will be:

-All heroes with DT-ish comboes.
-A few new maps/modes.
-Clone legion number reduced to 5.
-Many units redone + some new support units.
-Change in side layouts.
-Some new/edited character/weapon models.
-DT II added. (Assuming it gets a release in next 3-6 months. If not I'll probably patch DS to use it later).
-Loadscreens (some from loadscreen thread).

Anyway, one of the first changes I'll put up info on is the new side layout (definitely not one of the first changes I made):

I didn't really like the progressively better unlockable units set-up, and there were some balance issues (Engineers overpowered, CIS units better when used by AI), so instead I decided to go with a DT-ish set up.
There's now 3 "tiers" of units.
Standard - Rifleman, Rocketeer, Sniper
Support (8 pt unlock) - 3 support units.
Elite (16 pt unlock) - the 2 random elite units.


So, first unit update:

Republic Support units are:

Engineer
-DC-15S Blaster Carbine
-Fusioncutter
-Health/Ammo x3
-Mines x3

Officer
-DC-15st Shotgun
-DC-15 Pistol
-Rally x1
-E-Web x1

Jettrooper
-DC-15I Arc Caster
-EMP Grenade x3
-Concussion grenade x3

The new side layout looks great!
16 pt unlocks = pretty nice
Can't wait for the new combos and more updates...

A shotgun is a bit of an odd choice of weaponry for an officer, in my opinion, but the set-up sounds pretty good to me, I'll be eagerly waiting for this new version. Thank you for your hard work, Sky. :wink:

Kay, first update on new hero supports.



Hero: Obiwan Kenobi
Force Powers - Wave, Vortex, Pulse, Shield
Combo Special Attack - Force Finisher (single)
Still not sure whether to use the stock or the hapslash model. Anyway, plays at a pretty regular hero, force attacks are all strong ones. Uses Force Finisher (ie just like DT heroes) as his combo special attack.

Support Unit: Wing Commander
Weapons - DC-15S Carbine, EMP Wrist Rockets, Rally
Was going to be in a legion made by Labj, but that legion isn't being used due to legion cut down and the map it was most suited to being cancelled. However, it makes a nice hs for Obi. (PS - Labj could you perhaps make a Phase I variant too).
The Carbine has more ammo than the engineer's variant, the EMP rockets can lock onto vehicles and turrets, and rally is there for boosting his teammates.

Wow, nice skin. IMO, I think the shotgun & carbine need to be switched around. Otherwise, nice update.

I like the idea of emp wrist rockets too! Nice work!

P.S. I think you should use the hapslash version of obiwan

Well considering that you are still using the ep3 one... its ok, i will post the other one in the glamour skins them

I iwll make sure to give it a DL when this mod is finished, i guess that shouldnt be soon

Sky, would you like me to completely re-do the 49th with some new skinning techniques that I have learned since?

If so, just PM me the side set up and I'll try to get you an updated version for each of them.

Haven't done a whole lot of work on this recently, mainly due to modding time being used up by making maps for DTII and BF0.

However, updates time. DEVISS-REX is kindly helping out with kitbashing/hexing new unit models.


1) CIS Support units - Elite B1s
The "Auxillary Class" (droidkea/nemoidian gunner/jet droid/shadow droid) is now a "B1 Elite class". There are currently four Elite B1s, one is randomly loaded per battle.



They are:


Jet Droid
-Armed with an experimental particle accelerator rifle, as well as a sidearm and thermal detonator. Effective at range. Particle rifle has a short warmup.

Shadow Droid
-Unchanged since v1.
-A stealthy unit that fights with a neuropoison launcher and kamikaze probe droids. Relies on stealth to avoid being quickly killed.



Incinerator Droid
-A close combat unit armed with a deadly short range incinerator, a sidearm and demolition charges. Has a powerful BOost Pack that hurls it forward at high speed. This is useful for closing the distance between it and enemy units.

Droid Marine
-Elite battledroid armed with assault rifle (blaster and mortar modes), radiation grenades and a haywire grenade. Most straightforward of the elite B1s.

2) Random Skies

Since a lot of maps didn't have random skies, I've made a bunch more for v2 (some in a program called terragen Mav mentioned, its very useful) and am slowly implementing them. Here are some examples. PS unit in the second pic is the new Myydrian Merc DEVISS kitbashed for me. :)

It looks really nice Sky, must say I like the B1s a lot, especially the Jump Troo... I mean Jet Droid! And Incinerator Troo.. uhm.. Droid :thumbs: I somehow refer them too TFU, I'm sure you've took those as reference and must say; it doesn't look bad at all! :D

Thanks - jet droid isn't tfu inspired, incinerator droid most certainly is. Oh btw those models I sent you - don't worry about enveloping them, I'm sure Dev'll be happy too once I mention them. :D

Cool update, I specially like the Incinerator Droid's boost pack concept.

Will Ellera Prime have random skies? I can imagine that there is not much you can do about it; maybe you could have a capital ship hovering over the area or something to that effect. At any rate the current skybox is interesting enough.

Nope, will always have same sky. However does have random weather......ie clear or a light rain of meteors.


EDIT: Small Update:

A while ago AQT redid the skins for his Arctic Legion, implemented them today.
Commander and Sniper not shown.
