So yeah, supposedly this is going to happen. I think there's plenty to discuss/say about this, but will everyone please watch out so that this won't become a flame/bash-thread?

I think its great for anyone who wants that sort of thing, but I don't even own an HDTV yet, so I'm still fine with regular DVD copies. In fact, until 6 months ago I only had 4,5 and 6 on VHS, and that was fine. There's something nostalgic about it. Still, like I said, for those who want 3D good for them.

Oh yeah, I do hope and guess they'll really only make it better and don't try to fill things up like they did in the special edition original trilogy. Maybe they'll even re-do episode I as a whole, some people would really like that :P

I'll wait until the original trilogy. Personally, I don't want to see "NOOOOOOOO" like it was next to me in the theater, I'd rather keep that as far away as possible. :P

AFAIK, they are just taking the current editions, maybe adding a few tweaks (such as adding CGI Yoda in Episode I), and converting it to 3D. Which is fine by me, I'm excited to go see them all in theaters again. Plus, I'm looking forward to 3D podrace, battle of coruscant, death star trench run, and possibly the speeder bike chase.

I don't really care to see the entire saga in 3D, but it could be fun to see the movies in theaters again with some friends. There are a few scenes that I imagine would be a blast to watch in 3D though - the podrace from Episode I in particular, along with the assorted chase scenes and space battles.

Didn't know about the CGI Yoda. If they do that and release it in 2D as well I'm in.

That is awesome. I knew Lucas would one day put Star Wars in 3D. I sure hope they do replace Yoda in Ep.1 with a CGI character cuz the muppet really annoyed me. I can't wait to see what the other people have already posted... the podrace, Battle Over Coruscant, Death Star Trench Run, Battle Over/of Endor, etc.

I only hope they don't replace the yoda in episode 5, because that would be a total waste; IMHO, the episode V puppet is waaay more suited than the episode I version.

When I went to see Star Wars in Concert, they had a little spiel about putting CG Yoda into the episode I council scene. They are going to put this in the Blu-ray saga versions, so I'm assuming it will also be in the 3D rendition. As for the OT, I'm assuming they're going to keep muppet Yoda, because yes, it does fit alot better.

If you want to see the new CG Yoda, you can pop in your Episode III DVD and look up the featurette titled "The Chosen One"

Oh, how about the speederbike chase on Endor. That'll be cool.

I haven't seen 3D yet but this remake just might make me go... I've just been put off by the fact you have to wear glasses.

What's so great about 3D?

It's not all that captivating, and you have to wear glasses the entire movie.
