Why? Disney sure is certainly more capable of making an enjoyable and great movie than just Lucasfilm :/THEWULFMAN wrote:I... don't know if I want to shout with joy, or shoot myself.
Or are you just describing the afraid/surreal/optimistic/hopeful/weird/ feeling we're all feeling right now? lol

Really hard to put my feelings down in words.
Basically it's concerns about how Disney will handle Ep7, like where the trilogy will take place and how they will be told.
To me this could be the greatest thing to ever happen to Star Wars, or... I was about to say the worst...
...but looking at the PT, that would be a "neat" trick to pull off.
Don't get me wrong, I love Disney, a lot. They have a lot going for them. I just don't want to see Disney morals injected into my Star Wars (see Cars 2, which I do love, it's just not what I want my Star Wars to be. Pixar didn't want to do Cars 2 and it was essentially a cash hog because the first movie had sold so much merchandise, more than any Disney movie ever I think).

I propose we get the titles for the trilogies done now.
4-6: Original Trilogy
7-9: New Trilogy
1-3: ...Those

Haha, I can just imagine a Disney version of the Cantina Band song or something completely whacky like that - LOL. But yeah, I am hoping the best for this new film.

Not sure if this is good or bad.
My opinion to this will be based on what happens from now on, right now I don't really have one.

Two words: Bought Marvel
Two sets of two more words: The Avengers, Joss Whedon
Two final words: No worries

Well, this news woke me up with a jolt. My initial thoughts are good, and I think this is just the boost the saga needs. As long as they have a good script and don't let George touch it, I think it will be safe, and my hopes would also be for Joss Whedon to direct.

Right, because Disney morals were totally injected into Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, the Avengers, all the Marvel comics for the past 3 years, Sportscenter, Mike and Mike, and every show on ABC.THEWULFMAN wrote:Don't get me wrong, I love Disney, a lot. They own it. They don't create stuff for it. Lucasfilm isn't suddenly replaced by a company of happy-go-lucky Disney employees (though, I guess technically they ARE all Disney employees now). They've got the same staff, the same plans, nothing's changed except that they're now a subdivision of a bigger company. A bigger company that gives them money to do whatever they want in exchange for the profit those creations will incurs.
Pixar's a little different because their films are now "Disney/Pixar" in that Disney has a say in the creation process, since they're working on it, too. But that's not what's happening with Marvel or Lucasfilm.

I agree with this. The Avengers and the other Marvel films that have come out since that buyout weren't "Disney-fied" in any capacity so I'm sure this new trilogy will follow suit.Teancum wrote:Two words: Bought Marvel

The winning formula for Star Wars is when Lucas conceptualizes stories and ideas but leaves the execution in the hands of others -- the original trilogy and the Tartakovsky/Filoni Clone Wars series are prime examples of this. It sounds as though that formula is going to applied to this new trilogy, so I'm optimistic about the final result. I think what has me most concerned/intrigued is that these movies are going to continue Luke, Han and Leia's story and (once that trilogy concludes) the idea of churning out movies every two or three years.
Overall I'm (cautiously) optimistic about this. If we're lucky, the prequels will end up being the valley of the Star Wars franchise and this deal will represent the first few steps in the climb back up.

Oh, yes, I think now, it should be a wonderfull love story (Disney done many of them, in lot of fairy tales). Well, we already saw, wedding of Indiana Jones, and Marion, so why now, it shouldnt be a wedding of Han Solo and Leia? It should be so lovely story...

WHOA, I had completely forgotten that like all of those Marvel movies were by Disney! Yeah, they'll definitely do fine with a Star Wars film (hopefully).

While Episode 3 is certainly the least bad of the prequels, it still has terrible dialogue (I have the high ground, only a Sith deals in absolutes) and is still plagued by emotionless action scenes that really don't go anywhere (75% of the Anakin/Obi-Wan fight, the Grievous battle and escape scene). It could have been good, but it still had that almost creepy sterility that the other prequels had.
Let's just hope these are good, I guess.
