I agree with you 100%, JazzMaster. And the new helmets do look quite awesome.

Check to see if you can join the Closed Alpha test!

They're looking for very specific system requirements, so very few people are getting in. But hey, maybe you'll get lucky.

From what I read the origin account are all already selected. Rendering this kinda useless.

UNSTAGED ALPHA FOOTAGE

Looks like a lot of fun so far. Still waiting for a HUD revamp. :P

Been playing the alpha at a buddies house who managed to get in; I'll do a lengthy write up sometime. But for now, I'll just tell you guys that this game is awesome. It's the same simplistic/arcade-like experience that I love about the first two. 20 vs 20 is a great fit on the alpha hoth map; the map is well designed and flows perfectly to make 40 players seem much bigger.

One thing I did not expect, however, is how fun the Tatooine survival mission is. I've played it more than a handful of times now, and it is fun every single time I play it. The enemies spawn from different areas, the drop pods drop in different locations, and the powerups spawn around the map in different places. Very fun and simple mission. If there is a good selection of these, I would almost say I prefer it over a traditional campaign.

The game also plays beautifully in both first and third person. Battlefront is in good hands, people!

I heard somebody say the controls for the X-Wing and TIE Fighter were too 'floaty'. I haven't played BF3 or BF4 so I don't know how they handle aircraft but is there any similarity to the flying mechanics of the first two games?

Barely, aircraft in BF3/4 actually handle well with great controls as opposed to the terrible handling of the spacecraft of SWBF1/2 with terrible controls. :^)

Flyers are still difficult to control. Honestly, I'm convinced that it is impossible to make anything that flies control well in videogames. Pretty much any game I've ever played that has aircraft in it has pretty bad control for them. This new Battlefront is no exception, unfortunately. But I was expecting that. I think the only game I've ever enjoyed air control in was Battlefield 1943.

m9, you need to play War Thunder. :) Easily the best flight controls in a video game, like, ever.

Then you should play Ace Combat 5.

Also it may have been Jesse Cox who you heard say that, if not, he did too. XD

so then it's fair to assume we will be getting BF4's flight mechanics in this new game?

I would disagree with this. They don't look like BF4's flight mechanics at all.

From what i've seen of the ingame flight, it looks a lot like the first game's.

Glad to see we'll (presumably) be able to fly A-Wings and TIE Interceptors.

1st and 3rd person, it looks like classic arcade mechanics with modern graphics and sound design.

I'm happy.
