SWBF2 in TF2

I really wasn't sure where to put this... It could go in Game Modding - Other, it could go in Steam Games, it could go in SWBF2 General, but I figured a lot of us that both play TF2 and are still moderately interested in the SWBF series check this forum the most often.

[TF2] Star Wars: Battlefront II Map Porting and Dedicated Server -- Coming Soon

Yes, this is in TF2, not BF2
Currently setting up a pub that will feature:
[*]Up to 24 playerslots (home network-based and all, so no 32 for now)
[*]Official Valve Halloween Map Rotation (with the ability for users to vote for boss spawns)
[*]Limited or no micspam allowed
[*]A map I'm working on, with more to follow

Map I'm Working On:

The map process is taking some time right now because it's not like I can convert the BFII map directly into a TF2 map -- so I'm building it almost from the bottom up from scratch.

When will it be going online?
About 2 weeks, I have to finish with the map -- things are going well so far. That's 2 weeks with multiple hours a day to work on it, too.

Any other BF2 map ports you're thinking of adding after that?
Kashyyk (Fog included to limit OP Snipers), Jabba's Palace, Death Star, Polis Massa, Kamino (the good maps, really)

Will you post the maps online?
No, because copyright infringements and all, so no. But obviously you'd get the map file by visiting my server.

But I know a way that could convert the BF2 maps to Source format!
Please tell me ASAP

He's not posting the maps online because of copyright laws, but sharing them via internet connection is...okay? :?

Eh, I'm not sure where it falls legally, but he's doing it without an intent to make money, and of course if EA decides they want to claim copyright infringement, they will. It can't hurt to do it.
Then again, I know little of the legal workings of copyright and intellectual property, so I may be way off base.

It's a cool idea that I'm looking forward to the final product though.

Honestly, unless he's ripping everything straight from SWBF2, models and all, I don't see how this is any different, legally, than using World 1-1 from Mario in other platformers (which does happen)

Or sayyyyyyy making a Mass Effect mod for SWBF2.

Off-topic: Electronic Arts permits assets from the Mass Effect games to be used for non-commercial, non-profit games, mod projects, and machinima. And even then, the only assets being used are sounds, music, and a particle effect texture or two. Image

The only example I'm using is creating your content based on and with the intention of directly resembling otherwise copyrighted models

My point wasn't so much that what he's doing is illegal, it was that it's odd to not post the maps online for fear of copyright infringement persecution, then happily spread them through an online game server.

Though I'd argue that his work is a lot closer to BF2 than the Mass Effect mod is to Mass Effect.
