Sides

Post by RepSharpshooter »

I guess we better bring up the issue of sides.

There are 18 total units to select from if both teams are put together. A sample setup would be to have 3 base classes and 5 levels, which allows for 3 different varieties of Jedi. It ultimately depends on how many levels we need versus how many base classes we need.

I was thinking that we have classes as such:
  • Scout - ??? perhaps a reskinned rebel model? like a smuggler? - Has more speed, less health
  • Smuggler - Han solo cit model from battle arena (actually originally made for DMI) - In between
  • Soldier - Caleb's merc model - More health, less speed
I need ideas on how to build the sides. Obviously these classes will level up with 5 different levels. Health, speed and stamina will increase with level. But we may also want to change weapons/feats. Like we could give the level 5 soldier a power blast feat for his gun. Same, we could give the scout a sniper feat. There could also be the different levels of feats, all the way to master. Smuggler could get the rapid shot feat. We could also give the smuggler and scout stealth generators, and the soldier a shield generator.

Level 1
  • Scout
    • Sniper rifle
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
  • Smuggler
    • Carbine
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
  • Soldier
    • Blaster Rifle
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
Level 2
  • Scout
    • Sniper rifle - rookie sniper feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
  • Smuggler
    • Carbine - rookie frenzy feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
  • Soldier
    • Blaster Rifle - rookie power blast feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
Level 3
  • Scout
    • Sniper rifle - rookie sniper feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Scout droid
  • Smuggler
    • Carbine - rookie frenzy feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Stealth
  • Soldier
    • Blaster Rifle - rookie power blast feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Shield
Level 4
  • Scout
    • Sniper rifle - veteran sniper feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Scout droid
  • Smuggler
    • Carbine - veteran frenzy feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Stealth
  • Soldier
    • Blaster Rifle - veteran power blast feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Shield
Level 5
  • Scout
    • Sniper rifle - master sniper feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Scout droid
  • Smuggler
    • Carbine - master frenzy feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Stealth
  • Soldier
    • Blaster Rifle - master power blast feat
    • Pistol
    • Grenade
    • Shield
Jedi
  • Padawan
    • Saber
  • Knight
    • Saber
    • Force Push
  • Master
    • Saber
    • Force Push
    • Saber Throw

Sound good? Still need ideas for player and weapon geometries. Donations welcome! Perhaps we should even differentiate this task, seems to be a little overwhelming for me to do alone.

Remind me what Frenzy does? I know I already set up weapons with Sniper Shot and Power Blast (including .fx) for the KotOR sides, but I forget what Frenzy's supposed to do.

Frenzy? I'm pretty sure he means something similar to Rapid Shot.

Wait, is the Carbine a shotgun? If it's not... I *grarghle* at you. I strongly suggest putting a shotgun into it, as it's probably the most used weapon in the game :D.

Good reason to NOT put it in, so people get playing something else.

Within each side, there will be a hierarchical structure of units, meaning that the class selection will range from a common person to a Jedi. However, not all the units are available from the start. The “better” units such as the Jedi will be unlockable through points. This makes a kind of “leveling up” system, pending that the world will have sources of points for doing positive things.

If i might suggest, maybe a bounty hunter class could be added? Levels could be:
Hidden/Spoiler:
Level 1
Rifle
Pistol
Detpack

Level 2
Rifle (slightly longer range with sniper scope)
Pistol
Detpack

Level 3
Rifle (slightly longer range with sniper scope)
Pistol
Detpack
Wrist-Rocket

Level 4
Rifle (slightly longer range with sniper scope) and rookie power blast feat
Pistol
Detpack
Wrist-Rocket

Level 5
Rifle (slightly longer range with sniper scope) and veteran power blast feat
Pistol
Detpack
Wrist-Rocket

Two notes on this:
1. The detpack could be changed out if this class could only be used in the battle arena for a stun grenade that has a larger blast radius but does little/no damage
2. I was thinking of Mandalorians for this, and an obvious but effective model would be either Fett. I've also seen a Mandalorian skin for the Clone Commander
For player models, i vote Imp sniper for the sniper class (reskinned of course) and the Ep3 Trooper with a Kama for the soldier. I don't know about the smuggler, but the rebel smuggler seems to make sense for it. I don't have any preference though

I like the leveling up system by the way; it's very different from most maps where the only "level ups" are unlocked characters

Thanks for reminding me to make a Mandalorian player model. :D

So do you already have a plan for leveling up a character? I didn't know you could do that per unit (instead of by class). Then again, I think it's been done before. You should be able to grab a specific player no problem, but issues might arise if they switch classes (in fact I'm pretty sure that'd be a big issue).

Anything that can be defined by SetProperty instead of SetClassProperty can be increased on an instance basis instead of a class-wide basis. That's a pretty limited "levelup," though, and it would definitely exclude weapons.

Frenzy is the award u get for killing 12 people with a blaster rifle it gives u the award Rifle which basically shoots 3 powerful shots with evey pull of the trigger.

Of course, classes could be changed at cps (the actual "leveling up" event).

Frenzy = kotor's rapid shot, not swbf's award

Yeah, but you've got a lot of classes there, you can only have 9 + a hero and have it fit on screen.
