Remember, avatars must be 150 x 200 pixels...
Guys, there's two reasons why we have the avatar 150 wide by 200 tall rule.
1-So avatars aren't retardedly huge in size (the forum code currently shrinks them so this isn't a much of a problem)
2-Smaller filesizes = faster loading pages. And for those with 56k modems still (there's quite a few) that's a big issue.
Therefore you all have one week to either replace your avatar with one that's the correct size, or find a new one that is. The staff knows how to check the size of your image, and starting next Sunday any image that is too large will be removed from your avatar. On your second offense your avatar privileges will be revoked.
Sorry to do this, but I've check a few random topics and about 1/2 our members are breaking this rule. And it's been in place for ages, so there's no excuse.

Really? I don't actually check to properties of everyones avatar, but if I see one thats obviously to big, I tell them. I can't remember seeing anyone with too big an avatar lately. I don't doubt you, just saying I haven't seen any blatant breaking of that rule.

We've had half a dozen 800x600+ sizes, even a widescreen desktop 1280x something wallpaper.

You mean the actual image should be 150x200? Because then it IS 1/2..

Woah woah woah woah. The images before being scaled by the handy little scaler device?

Uhm.. Fail?

The Actual image (The one you use / pick etc to use as your avatar should be under 150 x 200px). The phpBB3 feature that *rescales avatars* does only that, it uses the HTML img width/height parameters to rescale your image. Its not resized. The same filesize is retained and dimensional image size.
Example of when I view your avatars properties.
377px × 551px (scaled to 150px × 200px)
The 377px x 551px is the one that must be under 150x200.
Posting the same image.

Definitely not 150x200

Re: Remember, avatars must be 150 x 200 pixels...
I keep all of my avatars (at least for the past 3+ months) at 120 x 120 so it really doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me
I hate having a huge avatar because they take up so much space

Wow. That's just a little excessive..

Good to see you're finally enforcing this. Dial-up users rejoice!

Yours is fine, unless you've already changed it.

Re: Remember, avatars must be 150 x 200 pixels...
He fixed his about 20 minutes ago. But I fixed mine, though I don't like it too much, actually... I think I might just take the old one and shrink it down.
Re: Remember, avatars must be 150 x 200 pixels...
I always scale mine to fit the dimensions before uploading, because we never had that scaling option before the new board style.
