Re: Minecraft
Off Topic from the server discussion: I was originally going to build a large minecart system around my fortress, but then decided a large river would be more fun, and require alot less iron (which I can barely seem to find in my world). However I'm not sure what material I want to use for the "aqueduct". I'm stuck between dirt and cobblestone, but not quite sure which one would be better (however I know I'm using soul sand from the Nether for my dock). What do you think? Dirt or cobblestone for my "aqueduct"?

Re: Minecraft
Plain ol' stone, the kind you mine. If you put cobblestone in a furnace you get it.

Re: Minecraft
Ah, too late now. Finished it and just went with cobblestone because I was impatient! Only died twice while building.

Re: Minecraft
I made a new world and spawned literally on top of more clay than I could carry. I took two full loads to get it all.
I also have been building bases as I travel in one direction, which is fun until I finish each base. Then I move on and it starts over again...

So I'm not quite done yet, but I got bored and decided to show off what I currently have.

Nice! Not what I imagined when you said "aqueducts," but one way or another, it looks better than it would if it were made of dirt. And wow, I just took a look at your channel. It's LOADED.Thire wrote:So I'm not quite done yet, but I got bored and decided to show off what I currently have.

As in, packed (with videos and subscribers), "in the money," "packing [figurative] heat."Thire wrote:Grev wrote:

Re: Minecraft
Hah, yeah. Well I used to put stuff up pretty regularly, but then I had some computer problems, then in the time I was away from the whole video making thing, I lost interest in it. Which is unfortunate because while I had this crappy laptop I wanted to do a whole lot more, but now I've built a mega desktop, and I have no idea what to do.

Re: Minecraft
Well, I have a big pit and no idea what to do with it. Post ideas here please.
Also, I started a new world and was wondering if it is possible to make a copy of the world for online play.

Re: Minecraft
For your pit, dig to bedrock, create base, farm slimes. About the world, I think it's possible, but my friends made an absolutely epic world using a couple programs and I might try and find out how they did it. And before you ask "How epic is absolutely epic?" think floating continents with massive forests and waterfalls.CressAlbane wrote:Well, I have a big pit and no idea what to do with it. Re: Minecraft
Here's a picture of my biggest, oldest base.
That minecart track runs straight off a massive overhang and lands on a layer of track about 120 feet below safely.
I have abandoned it in favor of new bases, however.
And...
Slimes?
What are these?

DONT GOOGLE IT. This is one of the things in Minecraft that isn't spoiled by the internet immediately. Once you find it though, you'll know.CressAlbane wrote:Here's a picture of my biggest, oldest base.

Slimes are something you find that can kill you. Where? you can find out. But right now, because of a bug, they are very rare.

Re: Minecraft
I'm thinking about buying Minecraft after going to the website and playing classic (getting around 25-30 fps, but my friend who bought it with the same laptop as me bought the game and got a much lower fps (around 0-2) than on classic (25 like me) using the lowest setting with all the optimization mods.
What specs do you guys have and what fps are you guys getting? I want to make sure that it will run on either my laptop or my desktop before I spend money on it.
My laptop (HP EliteBook 6930p)
cpu: dual-core 2.40ghz
ram: 4gb
Graphics: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family (integrated, 128mb)
Desktop specs:
cpu: single-core Pentium 4 around 2.4ghz
Ram: 2gb
Graphics ASUS something (512mb)
