R.I.P. Charlene "Chay" Holmes, 16, a girl who went to my high school, an innocent bystander caught in a drive-by shooting in my home city of Cambridge, MA.

Yes, rest in piece.

I think this and this should be able to reflect your guys' mourning. :)

Another beautiful iteration of the latter piece.

Still trying to push through, however I am still emotionally shattered in all truth. Mentally I'm here, but emotionally I'm really unstable, but I must carry on.

Here's a quote from the article. Turns out it was an over correction and not a side-swipe.
Accident In wrote:A northwest Iowa man was killed, his wife injured, Saturday night in a rollover accident on Interstate 90 in southwest Minnesota.

The Minnesota State Patrol says at around 9:35 p.m., a 2004 Chevy Blazer driven by 22-year-old Austin Skyberg of Estherville was eastbound on I-90 in Nobles County when the vehicle entered the median, over corrected and rolled.

Skyberg was killed in the accident. A passenger, 26-year-old Joy Skyberg of Estherville, was taken to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls with a non-life threatening injury.
Vaguely the same article was on KAAL TV News.

RIP Lonesome George, the last Galapagos tortoise subspecies of his kind. He passed away yesterday at 100 (Still young for a giant tortoise).

I guess he didn't want to be so lonesome anymore...

Revan, I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost a friend last year...I'd known him since I was too little to remember. It was hard, but I found peace after a while. May God bring you peace through this difficult time.

R.I.P Andy Griffith
Thanks for all of the great acting and classic TV moments.

2012 Aurora Shooting at the midnight showing of DKR, 12 dead

Post by THEWULFMAN »

I chose this article because it was thorough and was the first suggestion Google came up with.

Apparently some lunatic went into a theater in Colorado, with dyed red hair masquerading as The Joker, armed with an AR-15, a shotgun, and a .40 pistol, killed at least 12 people and injured 59 more. The death count may rise as several of the wounded are in critical condition. The youngest shot was 6 years old.

Discuss, oh and please leave politics (like those involving gun laws) out of this topic so it doesn't get locked. Whenever a shooting happens people always bring up gun laws, which leads to debates, and in Gametoast's case leads to the topic getting locked.

EDIT
Rest in peace, to the 12* victims of the 2012 Aurora Shooting.

*12 as of when I posted this. The number might increase.

Topics merged. -Staff

Not going to comment on what happened but I am going to comment on certain peoples lack of empathy. There is someone (or was) someone on my xfire friends list who posted something along the lines of. "A bunch of people were killed at a batman premier. LOL" He is no longer my friend.

Some people...

My heart goes out to all of those hurt and their families.

I concur. There's a ton of people making fun of it because it happened at the premiere of DKR. Way above tolerable levels.

For people like that, I have but one quote (paraphrased):

"It is not who is behind the username, but what they do that defines them."

No matter how mature someone says they are, lack of respect for the dead is utterly inexcusable.

Agreed. However for me, when I die, people can have all the fun they want -- cause I'll be too dead to care.
Hidden/Spoiler:
When asked how he [Diogenes] wished to be buried, he left instructions to be thrown outside the city wall so wild animals could feast on his body. When asked if he minded this, he said, "Not at all, as long as you provide me with a stick to chase the creatures away!" When asked how he could use the stick since he would lack awareness, he replied "If I lack awareness, then why should I care what happens to me when I am dead?"
RIP to all the victims. Death seems to be mainstream these days.

Yeah, the problem with that is I think your family will care.

People die everyday, bub. And please don't say you were being sarcastic. There's a time for sarcasm, and this isn't the time.

I don't think that's what he was saying, it seems to me at least that death and other horrors is all the media focuses on these days, so much to the point where watching the news is depressing. It's really unfortunate. I don't think he was attempting to crack a wise joke there.
