EA Mentions New Battlefront Game
Source: http://m.gamespot.com/news/ea-teases-ne ... me-6408642
Summary: Electronic Arts has teased that one of its multiple in-development Star Wars titles is an all-new Battlefront game. Speaking today during the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference, CFO Blake Jorgensen offered the hint.
"The opportunity to do a new Battlefront, for example, which is one of the very popular Star Wars games, or some of the other traditional games that were made, is very exciting."
Star Wars: Battlefront III, despite never actually being announced, was reportedly 99 percent complete, though this claim was contested.
Jorgensen further explained that its new Star Wars games stand to benefit from the marketing potential at Disney, a company that owns many consumer-focused enterprises like amusement parks, film studios, cruise lines, and media outlets.
He also reiterated that EA's new Star Wars games will not be based specifically on any of the upcoming Star Wars films, though they may be released near them to leverage the marketing opportunity.
"These aren't movie games, per se; these are stand-alone games," Jorgensen said. "But obviously they would come out near the movies and be able to tailgate off of some of the buzz that will be created around the new Star Wars movies." I find some of the comments very interesting...

Re: EA Mentions New Battlefront Game
Oh my gosh So does this mean they will finish the free radical version? Sorry if that was answered in the article but I only have a few minutes so I skimmed it

Re: EA Mentions New Battlefront Game
See what I think is since the game was 99% finished there just gonna release it for a quick buck and give credits to Disney, but there could be a possibility that they are remaking the whole thing even better with the frostbite engine... Remember one of the companies that are working with the starwars games are dice , and they made battlefield with the frostbite engine which was a pretty kick Diet Dr. Pepper game! But either way as long as battlefront 3 comes out I'm good.

It's possible, but a gut feeling tells me they won't touch the Free Radical version.

I saw this and thought "They still have it? I thought they trashed it a long time ago!"When all the other companies attempted to make SWBFIII...THEWULFMAN wrote:It's possible, but a gut feeling tells me they won't touch the Free Radical version.
But hey, if they do decide to make SWBFIII from scratch, it will probably look better than continuing the Free Radical one, since that one was made how many years ago...?

Meh. We all knew Battlefront would be revived. I'll get excited when its announced. It's been too long of a wait for me to gush over crumbs like this.

Re: EA Mentions New Battlefront Game
I really hope that if they are indeed making a battlefront game its going to also be for 360 'cause there is no way in [diet dr pepper] that I am buying an xbox one, given its current options.

It's not likely companies will phase out support for the PS3/XBox360 just yet. Games are STILL being made for PS2.Cleb wrote:I really hope that if they are indeed making a battlefront game its going to also be for 360 'cause there is no way in [diet dr pepper] that I am buying an xbox one, given its current options.

I just pray it has modding support. I don't have the game so I don't know; but how much is there for Battlefield 3? I know there was decent support for earlier Battlefield titles, there was even a Star Wars mod floating around somewhere.

Re: EA Mentions New Battlefront Game
There's basically no modding support at all for Battlefield 3. I believe DICE stated that while they like the idea of modding, the Frostbite engine is too complex to allow for any sort of user-friendly mod tools (take that for what it's worth).
I'd certainly prefer a mod-friendly game, whether it is Battlefront or not, but to be honest I would be satisfied with a no-mod game as long as it was high-quality and had lots of content. That said, I'm not sure I'd pay $60 for it - I'd probably wait until the price dropped or it was on sale.

They said that, and then some people went and reverse-engineered BC2 to make mod tools.Eggman wrote:There's basically no modding support at all for Battlefield 3. Re: EA Mentions New Battlefront Game
Guys if you have a PSP or a PS Vita, get Star Wars Battlefront Elite Squadron. It's basically what battlefront III would of been, it had the best multiplayer ever and space to ground battles, and the order 66 campaign with Falon Grey X1 and all those characters, seatch on YouTube and compare the two .

If you re-read the first part of that sentence, it literally sounds exactly like high school drama.

I just hope the PC version isn't a port of the Xbox version.
