He's a surprisingly spry 81.

He's used synthesizers in the Prequels (Episode III was heavily reliant on synthesizers in certain cues, like in I Am The Senate). He's likely to use them again.

Even if I'm not exactly looking forward to the films themselves, I do look forward to his scores to them.

It does mean that we won't be seeing the 20th Century Fox Fanfare in the new films, right? That's been a constant so far as the Main Titles and End Credits pieces themselves.

Just Yes. Can't have Star Wars without him, he's been just as instrumental (haha) in the saga as any of the characters, and more than a lot of them.

Hmm, that's an interesting point. Back on topic, I'm very excited that Williams is back

It doesn't matter if the next film turns out to be the worst movie in the history of film making - if all else fails, we can still look forward to a beautiful score! Seriously, John Williams is to modern film as Richard Wagner was to opera, and he deserves to be counted among the greatest composers in Western history.

Also, regarding synthesizers in Star Wars: they've actually been used as far back as The Empire Strikes Back. If you listen carefully during the Wampa cave and Dagobah cave sequences, you can hear some really freaky synthesizer parts buried within the orchestra!
