Windows 10 doesn't like localize munge?
Greetings. I have an issue that I have never experienced. I recently got a different computer with Windows 10 and the entire SWBF2 mod tools works as it should except for the localize munge.
If I am munging a PC mod map, the core.lvl comes out empty at (1kb)
If I am munging a stock core.lvl, everything in the core.req gets munged except for the localize files.
There are no errors in the munge logs.
I suspect this has something to do with Windows 10 because I have never experienced this problem with other computers or Windows versions. Anyone know of a fix?

Could you paste the munge output?
Also, what directory does your BF2_modtools live in?

There was nothing in the munge log.Marth8880 wrote:Could you paste the munge output?

Standard directory where the install puts it.

As in the normal text that's outputted when you run a munge.
If you're munging manually, you can use Zero Munge to get the output.

I used VM and I think this is the important bit of information:

And what directory is that? (there could be a chance it put it somewhere else)AnthonyBF2 wrote:Standard directory where the install puts it.

Mod Tools were installed in the standard directory as I said already, in C:\

"Standard directory" could mean anything if it's the wrong directory to start with - just wanted to be sure.
Could you try running 'data_***\_BUILD\Common\munge.bat' manually and see what happens?

This what I have been doing forever, for all of my projects (the issue is happening in all project folders) I never ever use VM lol.Marth8880 wrote:"Standard directory" could mean anything if it's the wrong directory to start with - just wanted to be sure.

I just now tried VM to see what information it would show which I wrote above.

Honestly I couldn't imagine why it'd be doing this. Do you ever run CCleaner by any chance? If not, you might wanna use it to clean the registry or something.
Also found this after a bit of digging. https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000257.htm You might wanna try editing MergeLocalize.bat and wrap all file paths in quotations. You never know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes I use CCLeaner but not recently.Marth8880 wrote:Honestly I couldn't imagine why it'd be doing this. Do you ever run CCleaner by any chance? If not, you might wanna use it to clean the registry or something.

I do not understand what to change in MergeLocalize.bat, can you do this and paste the new batch file here?

Re: Windows 10 doesn't like localize munge?
Try this (I guess)
Code: Select all
@echo off
:: //-----------------------------------------------------------
:: // Create some cleaner variable names
:: //-----------------------------------------------------------
if "%3"=="" (
ECHO.
Echo Format: MergeLocalize.Bat InputDir1 InputDir2 TempDir
ECHO.
GOTO DONE
)
setlocal ENABLEDELAYEDEXPANSION
set Source1Dir=%1
set Source2Dir=%2
set TempDir=%3
:: //-----------------------------------------------------------
:: // Copy and merge the two text files for each language
:: //-----------------------------------------------------------
if NOT EXIST "%TempDir%" mkdir "%TempDir%"
FOR %%i IN ("%Source1Dir%\*.cfg" "%Source2Dir%\*.cfg") DO (
echo Merging "%%i"...
more "%%i" >> "%TempDir%\%%~ni%%~xi"
)
ECHO.
endlocal
:DONE

The new batch file did not work, nor did running CCleaner.

Re: Windows 10 doesn't like localize munge?
Hmm, try this:
In _BUILD\Common\munge.bat, locate this line:
And replace it with this one:
If that doesn't work, try putting two colons in front of 'call MergeLocalize.bat' to comment out the line and (back up and) remove (or just rename) the PC folder in data_***\Common\Localize.
In _BUILD\Common\munge.bat, locate this line:
Code: Select all
call MergeLocalize.bat %InputDir1% %InputDir2% %MungeTemp%
Code: Select all
call MergeLocalize.bat "%InputDir1%" "%InputDir2%" "%MungeTemp%"

Re: Windows 10 doesn't like localize munge?
Could you run a dxdiag and post the txt file report?
What version of Windows were you using when it worked? (full version information, e.g. "Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit")
When you ran CCleaner did you do a normal cleanup or did you clean(/fix) the registry?
Also, could you please filter your data_***\_BUILD\Common\Munged\PC directory for LOC files and post a screenshot showing its entire displayed contents (with file sizes) like so?

Re: Windows 10 doesn't like localize munge?
1) I will do the dxdiag later and get back to you
2) I've used multiple versions of Windows 7 32 and 64 bits, never had any issues with any aspect of mod tools - Currently Windows 10 64 bit
3) I did a clean and a registry clean
4) I will do the entire VM log later and get back to you
5) I tossed out the PC localize folder a long time ago so that it only uses the files in the localize folder

5) I'm talking about in the _BUILD directory where the munged files live.

Re: Windows 10 doesn't like localize munge?
Searching the PS2 munged folder for loc and .loc resulted in only these results:
http://prntscr.com/kf5959
I also looked at every file in the common PS2 munged folder and no other "loc" files were found. Localize files not even getting munged?
Admins: my images aren't being embedded correctly so I had to use direct links.
