Rey/Finn had presumably already plotted a course on the navcomputer before Han hauled them in, and the gravity well of a starship should be negligible. It doesn't really matter where the original course was plotted to, provided it safely exits the system.

I've got nothing for the second one. I'm sure I'll rationalize it eventually, but I too wasn't a fan. The more the rules of a universe get broken (even if it's just for a "one in a million" shot), the less unique it seems. Gravity wells as a hard limiter is a fun limitation.

Finally found a good picture of the new star destroyers. I really like the design, it's like a cross between a Imperial II Star Destroyer and a Harrower class Star Destroyer.
