in one gameplay video i saw the open circle armada logo on a cargo box. So do you think that is a hint for Obi-Wan and Anakin??

EDIT
Sorry for bump, but there is an update. I'm invited for the closed alpha. :D

That's great, let us know how does the game feel.

I've seen the starwarsHQ video about the lootcrates and it kinda killed my hype. I knew there was going to be that kind of system, but I still can stand it. I hope they will handle it better than Activision with CoD.

The only positive is that there's no season pass.

A new trailer got released.

Also, details on Arcade mode: https://blog.us.playstation.com/2017/09 ... t-ii-beta/

Plus a campaign cutscene was released:

Some interesting observations:
Hidden/Spoiler:
-Rebels get the Wookie Warrior as its Reinforcements, just like the old days.
-Imperials get the Imperial Officer in battle armour, like in the original Battlefront II.
-Flame Troopers, Death Troopers and B2-RP Battle Droids will also serve as Reinforcements on some planets.
-The Imperial Heavy appears to be skinned like the old-school Shock Troopers.
-Resistance Specialist appears to be using the A180 in sniper configuration.
-Arcade mode is customizeable. In the beta, we'll be getting a Hero Survival-type mode, and a Blast match for it.
-Only five modes at launch, but Galactic Assault and Strike appear to combine elements of modes from the 2015 title. I doubt many will miss Droid Run.
-Four planets are restricted to the Campaign mode: Sullust, Vardos, Pillio and Bespin.
-There appear to be some new variations of guns, like the DC-15LX for the Heavy class.
-14 heroes at launch, the only hero directly confirmed by the video that's not in the previous trailers, alpha or beta is Leia. Han will switch between his TESB and ANH costumes dependant on map.

I have the beta installed, I've played the Arcade matches, and I've played a round of Strike.

The Darth Maul Arcade scenario is pretty lame: it's like the scenario you played during the original game's install if you had it on PS4/XBoxOne (I assume) where you were Vader mowing down a ton of Rebel Troopers. The only differences are that you're not invincible and there's a 25 trooper limit. However, the TDM scenario is pretty much Offline Blast. The AI seems much more competent than they were in the first game's Skirmish mode and it made it a fun little match.

I've only played Strike so far and... wow. This is what the last game should have been. THIS feels like Battlefront! I had fun with it, playing as a First Order Specialist (their weapon is the newly-named DLT-19D, the DLT-19 variant first seen in Rogue One).

I have no issues with the game play this time around. This is a lot more fun than the 2015 title.

Somebody unlocked Custom Arcade in the beta. Though the mode is locked, the code is fully functional (though obviously it can only be played on the Theed Palace map).

It's actually pretty close in style to old-school Instant Action. If they added big maps, space battles and vehicles I'd be very, very happy.

So after all the recent controversies on Reddit, it seems EA is now removing microtransactions temporarily until changes are made. Perhaps the loot crates will now only contain cosmetics items like emotes and skins?

:D Just heard, wow! All that bad press really got to them. Though it appears to be temporary, who knows what the future will bring. I hope they do do something along the lines of skins, that to me doesnt effect gameplay as much if at all.

All controversy aside the game is quite good.
The matchmaking seems woking, since even a filthy casual like me is capable to stay competitive and enjoy multiplayer.

I just hope that the offline content will be expanded over time.
At the moment the selection of Arcade maps is rather limited, but it seems the other ones are being worked on.
Some guy on the internet has managed to unlock them to find out that they have some pathfinding issues.
Same goes for Starfighter Assault.
If they bring all multiplayer game modes on all maps (future ones including) to Arcade I'll be more than happy.

Holy heck, almost 2 and a half years since this thread was last posted in, and it's a very different game now! I have a reason for this bump though: Star Wars Battlefront II has its final content update tomorrow.

The update brings the OT to Supremacy, with five maps - Scarif, Yavin IV, Hoth, Tatooine and Death Star II. The big change here is that these are 'ground phase only' maps, but because of that, you can play these maps with starfighters.

Instant Action will get these maps, and a new Missions mode. Missions is offline co-op, so that means that all but Crait will be playable in Instant Action.

Skins-wise, we get Twin Suns Maul from Rebels, Hooded Episode 9 Ren, two new Rey skins (trigger warning: one is the finale skin Rey Skywalker, with yellow saber), and Sith Eternal Palpatine. Speaking of heroes, because Palpatine now has an ST outfit, he's playable in the Age of Resistance maps, as is Chewbacca. Yoda is playable in the GCW maps now also.

SOURCE

Over the game's life cycle we have had:

-The Last Jedi: Crait, Captain Phasma and Finn
-Resurrection Campaign mission
-Solo season: Kessel, Solo skins for Han and Lando
-New progression system
-Many new appearances
-The Clone Wars season: Geonosis, Capital Supremacy mode, new Clone Trooper customization overhauls, Instant Action, Co-Op, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Grievous, Dooku, Felucia, new reinforcements in the form of ARC Trooper, Droid Commando, Droideka and Clone Commando
-Age Of Resistance to coincide with TROS: Ajan Kloss, Jakku, Takodana for Co-Op, Supremacy and Instant Action, Starkiller Base for Co-Op, BB-8, BB-9E, new reinforcements in the form of the Ovissian Gunner, Caphex Spy, Sith Trooper and First Order Jet Trooper
-Age of Rebellion: Co-Op on all GCW maps, new reinforcements in the form of ISB Agent and Ewok, new weapons in the form of the E-11D, T-21, DL-18 and Cycler Rifle. Final update detailed above.

This game has seen a huge turn-around, and it actually seems much more worthy of a place in the Battlefront series.

Don't hold your hopes up for a Star Wars Battlefront III: most of the DICE Devs have now officially left the Star Wars Battlefront team to work on Battlefield 6, which is due for release next year. EA has said Battlefront III is not in their plans. There will likely be tweaks and fixes to be made in the near future, though new content is done.
