New DMI Policy

I understand that many people have school, work, commitments, don't have the modtools installed, rely on other people for export, ETC. In order to make it easier for everyone to be a part of this project, I am getting rid of the claims system.

As I mentioned before, "Here's how it'd work: you fill a 60m x 60m space full of objects. Get it ingame and working etc. Send it to me, and I can move it to wherever it fits in the city. That way there's no need for complicated claims. For those of you interested in a DMI lot, just continue modeling/working on it. Send it to me whenever you are done and I will place it in the world. After September 5th I will just free up unused claims and make it a free-for-all."

Thank you to those who submitted today (more can be received until midnight EST 9-5-09). I will try to compile the recent submissions together as soon as I can. It takes a lot of work, so expect a week or two as an estimate. Below is a list of the new submission requirements:

Submission Requirements
  • Must be at most 60m x 60m at ALL heights.
  • Must have no more than 25 objects
  • Files submitted must have unique names (objects, msh's, tgas)
  • Submission must only include your files, not the files from the dmi template
  • Objects must be in a unique layer only
  • Terrain or world modifications will not be implemented
  • LUA code amendments are fine, but clearly label the changes you made
  • Vehicles are fine, but make a unique side that contains them
  • For my sake, please name your submission "DMI_(yournamehere)" if I have 20 dmi.zip's I can't figure out who is who.
  • Requirements are subject to change, please check before you submit.

Ooooooh, do you need me to redo that? I know you already have my lot, but if you need me to change the names, I have no problem doing it.

I will put it in as is, if there is a conflict I may ask you to change it. Thanks for asking.

Phew! I had been avoiding even getting on here(GT)because I didn't have my lot complete. Never fear though, I have progressed ever further on my building. I had big ambitions for it when I started not realizing how much work it would require. But I'm still plannig on going through with what I had originally planned, maybe even a little extra. But I have learned much since I first started my building, and can model a complete room(With furnishings)in just a few days. I'm resolved to work just as hard as I have been, but with relief and relaxation. Thanks so much Rep, really.

Why, what happened? Maybe us Gametoasters can help.

Since you are offering, I need a new computer.

Can't you still export all the models, make odfs, etc? With the new system I need to move them to wherever they fit anyways. As long as it's like 1 or 2 objects I don't mind placing it in. Now if you want me to put 25 objects in and arrange them for you that is too much.

I can probably merge them all in Milkshape, the only issue might be that 60x60 in MS3D might be bigger/smaller than 60x60 in XSI, and without a graphics card I can't boot up XSI to check.

Here is an updated map of the city. If you submitted a beta and are not on this map somewhere, please let me know.

Lots will be given out on a "first come, first serve" basis.

Oh wow...that just went from "halfway done" to "back to the drawing board." It almost makes me want to whip out my mod tools and throw together an excruciatinly simple lot just so we actually have a city and not a ghost town.

Man, I wish I had modelling tools. I would love to have a lot.

If you want I can send in an earlier revision of my building for a beta. XSI is being a little uncooperative with my attempts at making a new entrance for the upper city. The older version has an ugly UV mapping job, no stairs, and only the bottom three floors with nothing inside, but I suppose it's something for the time being.

You don't need modeling skills or tools: http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 64&t=14474

...and? The object limit is still 25 objects. No exceptions. If possible, merge some of the objects together or get someone with modeling experience to do it for you. Otherwise, you'll just have to make do with what you can fit.

You now know why I have been begging for submissions then :)

I am massively over-scheduled with school and clubs, but I will try my best to add the submissions so far (and those to come).
